I for one think that as long as it is delivered outside of Japan it could very well take PSP's throne on that count.

No, this game wouldn't do as well as the PSP versions because of amount of content would have to be drastically reduced along with everything else.

I guess the worst thing about his "prediction" is that he really does not quantify anything.

As most people have said, it won't sell as many as the portable series combined. It probably will not reach the numbers of the top selling portable game. Of course since there are almost 2x PSPs than there are Wiis in Japan, that should not be surprising.

But basically, his prognostication is so vague, that it almost cannot be wrong. And that is wrong.

Also wrong is being dismissive of a million-selling game -- Animal Crossing in Japan.

Actually, considering what people are saying... This game will undoubtedly do very well in Japan (most likely around 1,5-2 million).

The question is, will it be able to expand the markets overseas? If Nintendo are really going to help Capcom promote it in Europe and the Americas, I can very much imagine that it will sell very well, perhaps surpass the PSP iterations after all.

Wow, am I the only person who thinks that Monster Hunter 3 will overshadow PSP efforts, or end up really close? A bare minimum is 2-3m I think.

If Capcom manages to transform the Wii Sports and Wii Music fanatics over, much like Mario Kart Wii does, I even see twice that (the above number).

If Monster Hunter 3 sells more than MHP2G, I will eat my socks.

That definitely will not happen. 0.5-1 million in Japan is more likely.

I don't think MH3 will push MH:FU out of the ring. When Capcom says they will puch MH in the west, that includes the Freedom Unite.

Any of you heard of this?

That's right, massive MH:FU push. MH3 will be big, but it's not going to outsell MH:FU.

Now, I want both games, but the PSP multiplayer does sound like more fun.

The trouble is, Mario Kart Wii is only at 2.2 million in Japan right now. So you're predicting that MH3's minimum is to match Mario Kart and push into Wii Fit and Wii Sports territory (3.3 and 3.5 million).

Your expectations are simply stratospheric.
