Indeed - It's a misconception. I've never really thought of it, but what you said is true. Making profit in a quarter does not magically expel the losses you've posted the last, I dunno, 20 quarters? So yeah, they're lowering their losses.

but its very relevant. sony got hit bad in Dec and shouldnt be as bad now since yen got weaker to the dollar. if sony as a whole posts losses again then it wont be relevant and majin would have a valid point

pity that 360 lead will be more this week....about 15-16k i guess...

+400k for the DS is not that bad. I expected around 300k honestly.

And wii is now at 49M consoles! Wonder how much will take to get at 50M

I can't wait until financial reports from all three companies. For some reason I just do not see the Arcade bringing in profit for MS.

Yeah, I doubt the Arcade is profitable. I guess they balance it out with the other models. I have no info on it, but let's hope someone else does.

I am sure we will all see the bigger picture very soon.

I am also curious about the reports because Sony talked about switching to the 45nm Cell and RSX this year and the PS3 being profitable.

Businesses write off or write down losses which means irrespective of previous years a profit becomes a profit when it is announced as such.
