Forums - Gaming - were SO: last hope and Valkyria Chronicles FLOPS

Series creator said they would like to make a sequel to Valkyria Chronicles and it has an anime, so I would say no.

Fixed. SEGA themselves never said they wanted to make a sequal.

And the anime contract may have already been there.

Valkyria for me has done well.

Star Ocean is still to be released in Others, and there likely will be a PS3 version announced soon... so i wouldnt say either have flopped, yet.

Not confirmed, yes but it has been mentioned.

Sega Interested in Valkyria Chronicles Sequel

Arguably one of the most overlooked PS3 titles in recent memory, Valkyria Chronicles has gone on to spawn an anime series in Japan and it appears that it might even be getting a sequel. In the latest issue of Famitsu, Valkyria Chronicles producer Nonaka Ryutaro expressed great interest in creating a sequel.

Despite dismal sales in America and Europe, the producer is happy with the reception it has received in Japan. With the recent inauguration into the 'Greatest Hits' category and new anime, Ryutaro is quite pleased with franchise. While not confirming that a sequel is in development, he did express that a sequel to Valkyria is something he is very passionate about doing. He doesn't want to stop with just one title.

Let's hope the sequel does happen. Until a sequel is officially announced, we have some great DLC to look forward to.

It is the producer, a guy who had an invested interest in it. It is not SEGA as a company. Just because he wants it does not mean the company has any intention of doing so. But, eventually one will prolly be made, though we don't know which system(s) it will be on.

Edit: Prolly will be multiplatform, though a game like this would fit well on the wii, especially with improved aiming from the wiimote.

Who do you expect to say that want to make another VC game? Sega's CEO?

NO! The developers!

I´m still getting it(When I get a ps3 one of this days (-_-)

Valkyrie - No because it wasn't hyped or advertised at all

Star Ocean - Yes for the exact opposite reason, it was hyped and advertised.

Of course they want to make another one. Every developer says that. How many times have we heard devs say they want to make another game in the series, or some such response like that and not get their wish, or it takes 5 years for it to happen. That is why there should be skepticism.

If we could go by quotes like that we would have had Megaman Legends 3 by now.

And VC was hyped, you had every ps3 owner that liked RPGs hyping the shit out of it and it only got to that number because it got a rerelease soon after it came out the first time.

My bad. I didn't realize where you fixed and in the quote I saw it saying that I mentioned the producer so I posted that.

Yeah SEGA didn't say it, but I wanted to mention that a sequel was brought up by someone who made it.

Well, you do get feedback saying that they can't make a sequel or that they want to move on, etc.
