I don't doubt that Wal-Mart sold returned merchandise as new.

What should be easy to trace/track is who had it before -- since the serial number rings up on the register receipt.

Yea, I am with everyone else... He got caught and blamed it on Wal-Mart. Unless it was a disgruntled Sony employee that was about to quit his job and he decided to do a little prank or they sold a returned PSP which I highly doubt both of those.
