Forums - Sony - Should SONY extend there warranty?

It isn't a large problem.

People just trying to find faults with the PS3. Ofcourse some consoles will break, but this is no-where near the scale of the RRoD. Stop trying to make it look like that, it's pathetic.

do u normally act like that when someone asks u a question??

Around the Network

If I remember correctly, MS only admitted to the RROD problem 18 months after launch when it became obvious to everyone that the failure rate was well over the 3% - 5% threshold. Like any business they weighed the cost of losing a class action lawsuit against extending the warranty to 3 years. I am sure MS went through the same thought process when they decided to extend the warranty for the E74 of death problem.

I doubt Sony will extend the warranty for the YLOD unless the problem is greater than 5%. Although it is a known problem, it doesn't look like it has crossed the threshold.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Funnily enough I just signed up for that.  On my third PS3 (two died with the yellow light!) and Sony informed me I was now outside warranty when recieving the third so I decided this was a better option that potentially having to fork out a lot of money if number 3 goes belly up.

Was it all from the same problem?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
