its to test the market place on Consoles, they want to see if people REALLY cared about monster hunter on consoles, since the ones on ps2 didnt do well, but the ones on psp were a big hit.

Monster Hunter G is basically a port of the original Monster Hunter, if I'm not mistaken.

Monster Hunter 3 is the true sequel.

Monster Hunter G is the expanded version of Monster Hunter for the Ps2.

Monster Hunter 2 was planned for the PS2 but the project was tossed for the Ps2 and continued in Monster Hunter 2 Freedom.

Monster Hunter G for the Ps2 was only released in Japan and now Monster Hunter G will be re-released on the Wii.

Content wise G is just an expansion of Monster Hunter, basically Monster Hunter complete. Monster Hunter 2 has a new area and monsters versus the original Monster Hunter. That is the difference.

Monster Hunter 2G F was also an expansion of Monster Hunter 2, and now Monter Hunter Tri is the next Monster Hunter.

Monster Hunter -> Monster Hunter 2 F -> Monster Hunter Tri
Exp: Monster Hunt G -> Mon Hunter 2GF -> ???
