Better to keep them spinning and leave the door open for whenever square gets around to it.
Oh for the love of, don't remake FFVII. It's one of the few games I can display to newer gamers that show that yes, graphics isn't everything. Gameplay and Storyline can be just as important. (FFVI is also on that list). If you remake that game, no one aside from those who've already played the original would ever want to go back to that. You'll be destroying a timeless classic.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but they've been stringing us along like this for the past 10 years, simply gobbling up anything related to ff7. Pretending like they are going to make it has been a huge cashcow for them.
It would be stupid to waste that kind of buzz.
