Forums - Sony - Solid proof the PS3 is a better system

We already knew this

Around the Network

All that you have proven is that the PS3 is the most powerful system.

You haven't proven that the PS3 is the best system by any means.

I personally find the Atari 2600 to be a much more enjoyable system. Being a more powerful piece of equipment does not make a system better. This is not meant as a shot at the PS3. It's just my way of saying that the enjoyment that one gets out of a system is what makes it great. Going by your reasoning the PS1 and PS2 would have not come close to being the best system in the two previous generations and I'm sure that you would probably disagree with this. Use whatever argument works for you at the time though.

The reason Wii is the best selling console is because non-gamers like it. There are way more non-gamers than gamers. Add in the Gamecube install base that would buy a Wii regardless and you have the best selling console this gen.

But is the Wii or PS3 the best console objectively? The preference over which type of controller you prefer aside, the PS3 is hands down a better machine.

It's funny, cuz I remember when people used to say that about the n64 and the gamecube because they were more powerful then the ps1/ps2....strangely it didn't make them sell more.

Sony fans....Nintendo fans, I think we're missing the real point here.......we should be pooling our hate at the 360 instead, so we can go back to just the two of us dueling it out :)

Damn it, you beat me too it.

But yes, just to reiterate, this is the same old, same old story that has been done before.

For all those who are too young to know/remember, just been into the video game world, or have lived in Sony land and were enjoying having the better selling console (Sony Playstations), this story started with the N64. Articles after articles were written in gaming magazines that said that Nintendo 64 was the better console, had the better graphics, games, controller, more innovative, the king of the hill, etc. etc. etc.

And none of it mattered. In the end, not only did the PS1 became the victor, Sony made a repeat for the king of the hill war with the PS2 and Nintendo fell further back, all the way to last place.

Now, the tables have turned and Nintendo, after learning their lesson, has gotten the crown back and now the Sony fanboys have taken the role of writing articles after articles of nonsense. Do they have facts? With the numbers, probably. With the subjective portion? Those are never totally right, no matter if it is from a Sony fanboy, a Ninty fanboy or an MS fanboy. The only reason people may feel that these articles are right THIS time is because it is on the internet, where bullshit is spread faster and amplified a thousand times more.

Let's learn our history please? Just get over with it, move on and just play the consoles that you love to play. If you don't like the competition, you don't have to...just respect it enough so you don't force this nonsense down in other people's throats...

Very good points you bring up.  A system really is about enjoyability; just as amp316 stressed, a powerful system does not equate to a good system.  Anyways, we all know that the PS1 reigns supreme.

People throw around the word 'proof' much too liberally, but if you are going to use the word proof in your title you really should try to avoid information that is blatantly and verifiably incorrect.

The same nonsense has been made up all the time by different people for the past three years.

To most people PS3 looks equal to X360 in regards to game graphics.

Anyway the author of the article has to justify his/her extra money they forked out for PS3 which plays 90% of the games library on the XBox 360.

ummm... I'm pretty sure (~95%) the OP is being sarcastic..

OT: lol that's exactly what a sony fanboy would write. I certainly hope you're not serious, but if you are...... I think the PS3 is the best system this gen, but it will be extremely lucky if it outsells the 360 and it will never EVER catch the Wii...

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

lol wut

I was confused by that too. Does he live in a different world from the world I live in?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
