The most over rated game series of all time would have to be Final Fantasy series.

It is a boring repetitive cliche' JRPG series with Japanese emo/ gothics teenage kids as the main characters in the game.

Final Fantasy is definitely a game series you either love or hate there is no in between. I am a hater of Final Fantasy series.

Some people seem to have a hard time understanding the thread title, which is "most overrated game (singular)," not "list every game and/or series that you personally dislike even though a few other people like it because they're clearly stupid jackasses."

Hates Nomura.

Yeah I see alot of games that have gotten 70-80 scores in this thread that people claim is overrated???

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

GTA4 is by far the most overrated game of all time. I knew a lot of people who buyed it but stop playing after 1 1/2 hour. This game has a dump storyline and a repetitive gameplay. Even the graphic is not really nice on xbox/ps3, better on pc.

I think he said 'game' not 'games' but I admire your level of bile and high standards.

I see a lot of people saying Halo but does anyone know a multiplayer game that comes to both splitscreen and online that's more enjoyable?

The only people that will say yes to that are people that haven't ever played it before or just plain get doninated in it and hate it cause of that.

Believe it or not there are people who just don't like the online aspect of Halo at all.  If you bought it for the campaign then it was vastly overrated.

How many FPS games have a better campaign than Halo 3? I've played a shit load of FPS games and very few are anywhere near as enjoyable.

Either way the best feature about Halo 3 is the online play. Occasionally four of us will play on the same console and go online and its the most enjoyable experience I've had with an FPS game. It's just an easy to play and well balanced shooter that any FPS fan should enjoy at some level. Games like CoD4 and GoW on the other hand can be a much more frustrating experience for casual gamers.

Halo 1 and Halo 2 for starters.

All Half Life titles easily, most CoD titles I'd argue, particularly on PC.  I guess you could see them as hybrid titles but PC fare such as Deus Ex and System Shock 2 had far superior actual campaigns (as in story, narrative, etc.  what the SP campaign should be about IMHO).

I thought Halo CE had a very good SP campaign let down by some very poor level design, but excused that due to the clear evidence of the title being rushed to support Xbox.

But I felt that given the time/money Bungie had available. from that point on the relatively weak SP campaigns (story, narrative, innovation, etc) in 2 & 3 were really inexcusable, particularly as the marketing campaign went overdrive on the idea of Halo as this mythic, amazing epic on a scale with Lord of the Rings.  With Halo 2 & 3 they perfected the online, innovated (for a console) FPS elements and polished and tuned the play to perfection.  They also produced two terribly bland and uninspiring SP campaigns IMHO and seemed happy to rest of the Halo bandwagon to carry the day without actually needing to deliver anything amazing.

Mind you, this isn't uncommon in games and films.  Look at how the Matrix introduced a similarly cool and interesting world then spent two films adding nothing much and simply going in circles expanding on already introduced themes.  It would have been nice though if they'd hit it out of the park - but clearly the shift in focus to online MP or making sure you could play coop overrode everything else.
