Forums - General Discussion - GM and Segway unveil new two-wheeled urban vehicle - PUMA

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090407/ap_on_bi_ge/general_motors_segway

300 pounds, speed up to 35 mph, 35 miles per charge, at about 1/4 cost of a small vehicle.

The Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility, or PUMA, project also would involve a vast communications network that would allow vehicles to interact with each other, regulate the flow of traffic and prevent crashes from happening.

but at 300 pounds, how easy would it be to steal this thing?

"Uhh, why Warthog sir?"

"Say that again."

"I don't think that looks like a Warthog, I think it looks more like a Puma."

"What in damn hell is a Puma?"

"It's a big cat, like a lion."

"You're making that up."

"I'm telling you, it's a real animal!"

"See these two toe hooks? They look like tusks, now what kind of animal has tusks?"

"A walrus."

"Didn't I just tell you to stop making up animals!?"

RvB FTW

This makes me sad...

...because I remembered it after reading the title too.

And also, here's a real Puma:

@ Wisdom

That picture brings back memories, I loved those games.

OT: This sounds like a risky move for GM, I dont know if they should be moving their focus away from the auto industry too much.

Interesting. Don't know if it will sell, but its certainly something new. I could see it being popular in big cities since parking is such a pain in the ass. Looks like it could fit in many spaces a motorcycle would.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

They should focus on their cars instead of opening new ventures. Btw, I wouldn't buy 1.

Puma the shoe company will probably sue them for the same name.

Anyways this is the lamest thing ever. Why don't they spend their money on hybrid or really fuel efficient cars rather then some stupid 2 wheel thing that nobody will buy.

Plus some idiot who drives this thing through a red light and gets hit by a Ford F-150 won't stand a chance. I'd be surprised if it even scatches the truck. It will probably leave a shit stain because this thing is shit.
