i don't think s-e has anything to worry about in terms of sales. should post a bigger first week number than the LTD's of all other next-gen titles in Japan thus far.

Now when you say "thus far", do you mean up to this point or up until the game's release? If the former, I don't know if that's all that impressive (save for Pokemon), and if the latter it'd have a Hell of a time beating Dragon Quest IX.

The initial shipment in Japan should be 2 millions. Overall I expect the original version to sell 7 millions worldwide.

If I am not mistaken they said at last years GDC that they have about 400 people working on the game. EDGE says there are about 200 people working on just cutscenes.

I'm not sure but that is probably the most disheartening thing I have ever heard.

lol wow.. shit

Thats just... damn XD biggest team working on a game ever ?

I heard that GTA IV had around 1000 people working on it I could be wrong.

Also Gran Turismo 5 has a chance of beating them both i'd think... the amount of time needed to make each car is amazing.

Wonder how much FF crystalbearers for the wii need to sell, it have after all almost been in development as long as FFXIII

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

It depends. If they use the Wii as the baseline they would only need to sell 100,000 copies.

That implies that development costs are well over $100,000,000! Say hello to most expensive game of all times?

Well to be fair it seems like he was just balparking a guess... and one based on expectations and not cost or profitability.

I assume a game like Final Fantasy 13 is expected to do more then break even and it's expectations would be to bring in megacash.

I don't know... I'm going to read a review before I buy a FF game instead of impulsively buying a collectar's edision of FFXII (I don't think it was absolutely, god awfully horrible, and that it wasn't worth $50. I just felt a bit ripped off and decieved.)

That will be no issue at all, the game will easily sell 5 million WW at absolute worst. Some games can have such development times and $$$ spent because they know the game will make the money back easily ala GT5........also something in the development went wrong. :/

I am more interested in where FFXIV goes, Kitase did say that making console RPG's costs have become extremely high so that most probably means these two games are the last ones the HD twins will get. That is unless the costs for the next FF game would decrease dramatically since the engine has been made but the problem with that is that the engine is multi-plat.

Interesting either way however the one thing I would like to see is both FFXIII and Versus to sell very nicely. Also those saying FFXIII will sell anywhere under 2 million in Japan need a slap across the face. It's been 3 years people FFXIII is a lock on to sell at least 2 million.

I could be wrong but wasn't the plan for this generation....

"Make FF13 which will be totally awesome and the next FF7."

"Proceed spinoffs for the next few years."

I'd expect the HD consoles to get spinoffs at least made with the assets.

FF14 I wouldn't expect till next generation.

i wasn't really including handhelds when i said that.  anyway, DS has almost 10x the installed base of PS3, if DQIX doesn't outsell FFXIII in JAP than there's something definitely wrong.

It's all about the game.

Ah, I see. That is something I should have been able to infer in the first place, I apologize.

Wait

Are you counting Wii Sports?

with the way the treated ps3 owners they'll be luck to get that

They'll get good money from the demo and 5M for this game shouldn't be hard at all.
Now VS13... I'm guessing they will only break even on that thing with 3.5M sales.... if they can get 3.5....
