The 360 though also advanced does not contain all the necessary options to keep continuing anywhere near the same amount of generation time as the ps3. Why? well if games get any bigger we will be seeing 7 game dvd sets for the 360 (compressed all to hell) and one blu-ray for all ps3 releases. It cost more obviously to have that many disk at retail. so developers will start to either demand that all 360's must have a hard disk to play their game (which would alienate at least 39% of all new 360 owners since they all bought the arcade), or stick to exclusivity which in itself is not viable now, but could be in 2 to 3 years after a price cut on the ps3. We know there is another grand theft auto game coming and this is precisely my point about disk space, secondly rpg's are already multi-disk on 360 and this will not change in the future. As physics, graphics, particle effects, textures, & shaders get more sophisticated the ps3 will again start to show the age of the 360 by having superior effects overall. The whole "easier to develop for" argument will be null and void due to the fact people are already used to the middle and edge tools available for the ps3 and it has only been 3 years. The cell is a beast and has yet to be fully tapped yet and could very well be the ultimate reason why games will continue to improve over the lifetime of the ps3. On the flipside if the wii gets a revision and starts supporting HD resolutions (through upscaling) then the ps3 and the 360 could have a really hard time justifying a 10 year plan. |
It wouldn't be 7 dvd sets if they are compressed.
