Forums - Nintendo - D.Cuthbert not too interested in returning to StarFox, calls the Wii a toy

To be fair last generation the ex Nintendo partners were working on the most advanced machine out their, short of easy shaders and having a difficult TEV. Same was true for the N64. It was a power house. This generation Nintendo intentionally targeted being lower specced. I'm sure some developers are unsettled that a long term partner switch tactics. In some cases they probably didn't come back at all. This guy seems like one that never even bother tried.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

When a developer who has entries on the Playstation blog is asked about his days working with Nintendo by a TV network that is catering to "hardcore" fans and complaining about the Wii -- is not this the result you would expect.

Also, complaining that Miyamoto does not listen to fans but makes what he wants is not exactly an insult -- if you really think about it. It takes courage to not be swayed by popular opinion and to stay true to the course.

Of course, I am not sure it is being used here as a compliment.

(Also interesting, the game on which most people think that Miayamoto lost it has sold almost 300K more than the game hailed as a unqiue breakthrough on the PS3:

I find it interesting that Dylan Cuthbert does not have a Wikipedia entry. In this day and age, that is unusual for anyone claiming to be known.

I think that D stands for Douche.

Either way, good riddance. Star Fox 64 was superior to the games he was involved with anyway.

Like I said in the other thread on this, he's just a complete idiot. Pay him no mind.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Totally agree. The Wii is a toy. Just like the PS3, 360 DS and PSP.

Seriously, If the Wii is a toy because of underpowered hardware, are the PS2/XBox now toys as well?

It is interesting how quotes get twisted and tangled.

The Wii=Toy comment came in an exchange about using the Wii remote for a new Star Fox game. What I don't get is how the Wii on its side would be different currently vs. WP+, unless he misinterpreted the question (which is very possible from the context). I am not even sure from his response if he has even tried the Wii.

G4: So you’d never like to make one for Wii where you control it with the Wiimote on it’s side?

Cuthbert: Yeah, no the Wii controller would be a bit too hard to use. I don’t know…maybe the new one…

G4: Motion Plus?

Cuthbert: Yeah. Maybe that’d be more fun to play with. I don’t know. The Wii is a bit more of a toy, I think.

You lost respect for someone expressing their opinion?

...whatever.

He's a complete idiot? Why? Because he dares to utter a word that might question your perfect lord god on high? Miyamoto's a genius who's designed many great games but he's far from perfect.

As for who Dyllan Cuthbert is... he's the Director and Executive Producer at Q Games. They're the people who designed the XMB interface and visualizers as well as the PixelJunk series of games. Considering the quality of PixelJunk Eden and PixelJunk Monsters, I'd say you're making yourself look like the idiot here.

Get over your fanboy bullshit.

Who is that guy?

He isn't being insulting.

And he worked for Nintendo when those games were being made.
