Forums - Gaming - Sony: Onlive = Fail....I tend to agree a bit!

I don't think the bandwidth is there to support this service, and it would "cheat" publishers out of profits, worst than used game sales, potentially.  The alternative is that gamers would have to buy the game, and have it resident on their computer, but thn WTF would I pay to play a Multiplayer game?  Anyway, I see some benefits of the service, but the bandwidth demands make me wonder...

Although, it seems a bit that Sony objections is because their PS Cloud will look like "mee too" when it's launch, after this service is somewhat established.  Also, ps Cloud could look like a limp copy of the robust Onlive service.

Lol PS Cloud might be a FF Advent children ps3 bundle.
i think onlive is a great thing and should work regardless what Sony / Microsoft / Nintendo says.

Before they even launched the PS3 Sony was talking about cloud computing as the system's future. Obviously they are going to try to make sure no one is going to steal their thunder before they pull it off, including dismissing competitors attempts.

But the fact of the matter is, they are correct. For the time being, the service is simply not reasonable. Many people cant maintain those dl speeds consistently even when they can hit much higher levels at peak, and many more don't even have that kind of bandwidth to begin with. Also, as was mentioned, the servers to actually play all of those games remotely will be very costly.

When Sony comes along with their own service, they are going to have many millions of PS3s installed in homes and they are going to steal unused cycles from those machines. It's the only way they could afford to do it, and to be fair if Sony couldn't handle the costs of completely server-side cloud computing on that scale then how in the world do these OnLive guys think they can?

You do not have the right to never be offended.

SONY FTW

SONY making predictions?? LOL

SONY released the PS3 at $600 with at the time shitty games, controller and PSN and thought it would be very successful more than the PS2. They have no credibility and shouldnt make predictions like these.

Maybe good, maybe bad. I don't see it taking off soon.
