Forums - Nintendo - Majora's Mask tomorrow on PAL VC

Is Majora's Mask as long as OoT? Doesn't really matter to me but I want to know how long I'd be able to experience it :D OMG I can't wait!

Oof, that's hard. On the one hand, MM has fewer (but much harder and longer, I believe) dungeons when compared to its predecessor. On the other hand, the game has so many huge and epic sidequests that I think it balances out.

You finished Ocarina, right?

Yay!

Right, I am buying 2 Wii points cards a.s.a.p (probably Monday) to get World of Goo and Majora's Mask.

Hmm, I'm on the fence. I already have the game on the Collectors Edition, but my GC controller has a wire so if possible I prefer the classic controller. Also VC games have progressive support (although Rol seems to have a different opinion).

Great game. I want Ogre Battle though.

NICE.

I will get this. Maybe I will treat myself to a Link to the Past as well, haven't played that for 16 years and I have serious withdrawal symptoms!

In fairness, does the 50Hz thing matter as much for N64 games? Their framerates were often terrible and many of them just run smoother on the VC.

PAL region? that's my region :D
Will download it tomorrow :)

omg monday US gets it. sweet i've been waiting for this game for so damn long.

ha i should really quick finish ocarina of time. i think i got to where you can enter and fight ganondorf for final battle but then was either busy getting final bottle, maybe max hearts or something that got me distracted and yet to finish it. not like a big deal i guess since have beat the game probably 4 times probably.

and not counting how many times played final fight. heck i bet i played that 10 times in a row when i first beat it back in 99. got it christmas 98, so 99.

I have only S&P (60 Hz only) and Lylat Wars (a.k.a. Starfox 64) on the VC. Lylat Wars always had a solid framerate, so I didn't notice any difference.

The 50 Hz effect is pronounced the most on N64 games though, due to the low framerates. A game that ran at 30 fps in 60 Hz, would only display 25 fps in 50 Hz while the remaining 5 frames would be displayed in the following second. Games with lower framerates than that (and some N64 games had that) can be a real problem, because they don't run smooth at all.

I checked it and you're right, PAL games run at 50Hz on the VC. It sucks in theory, but I must VC games seem to run smoother on the VC than on their old consoles. Not sure how that is possible though.

US monday release??? I guess i'll have to add some points by monday ^_^

It's true, though. Lylat Wars originally ran too smoothly on the VC release, so that the slowdown effect from the game's tremendous explosions was lost and everything felt less impressive. They actually had to reintroduce the slowdown
