I am deppresed to see Jak come back like this. That series is amoung my favorite of all time, and feel let down by this announcment. It's not so much that I think it is going to be a bad game, its that the PSP is so lame. My fire for PSP is dead. I tried to like the system. In fact, I was more exited about the PSP launch than the PS3, but Sony has let the system slide for to long. It has the tech in it to still be amoung the finest handheld devices on the market, but Sony has let me down on the OS side.

Hopefully they will give us a brilliant revamp with the new PSP-4000. I need PSN, Trophies, and digital games. UMD's a outdated, and I just can not bring myself to buy one. If Sony fixes my gripes, then I think this is a great move, but UMD - trophies = no sale for me.

Why is Sony still making PS2 games? It won't help them sell more PSP software :S

And Sony needs to stop with this ps2/psp crap. It hurts them far more than MS with the whole pc/360 thing, and MS has already stopped doing that with their first party stuff! Just in the thread on neogaf I see people going, "Yes, it's on ps2! I didn't want to have to buy a PSP for this!"

 

Saw your post on GA, completely agree with you.

 

But keep in mind they still want to push PS2, and some third parties (especially Japanese ones) have almost completely abandoned the console, so in a way, they are forced to port their PSP titles to PS2. Now, I disagree with that practice, but I think that's Sony reasoning. Bad idea IMO, they should just let PS2 die, there's not much they can do about its sales, but they can endanger future PSP sales with such practice.

Why abandon the PS2?  It still has a large install base and every single one sold is a profit. They shouldn't give up on the PS2 until they have software BC for PS3. 

PSP to PS2 software doesn't hurt the PSP's future.  Even if someone buys a PS2 instead of PSP Sony still makes money and the PSP has enough software now and in the future that can't be found on the PS2.  In addition to the fact that they will probably charge more for the PS2 version of the game making them even more money.

it's great to see more western titles announced for PSP.
i guess a great number of PSP games from SCEI will be on PS2 too from now on.
