Why abandon the PS2? It still has a large install base and every single one sold is a profit. They shouldn't give up on the PS2 until they have software BC for PS3.
PSP to PS2 software doesn't hurt the PSP's future. Even if someone buys a PS2 instead of PSP Sony still makes money and the PSP has enough software now and in the future that can't be found on the PS2. In addition to the fact that they will probably charge more for the PS2 version of the game making them even more money.
