He's right, the Wii is way way way way way closer to the PS2 in specs than it is to the next-gen consoles that haven't even been announced yet.

Think about it this way guys, since everyone seems to consider the Wii as a last-gen system, that means that in a few years the PS2 will be kicked off it's throne and forgotten in history as the best selling 6th gen console, because the Wii is going to beat it most likely. Considering how late in the 6th gen the wii launched, that is QUITE a feat! Sony should be so terribly ashamed that their greatest console gets overthrown by something like the Wii.

Sometimes I think they say stuff like that, just because people don't pay attention to it anymore, but if it turns out they were actually right, they get gloating rights.

It's almost as if the PS2 is our 4th console this generation.

I think he meant to say that the Wii is closer to the PS2 in hardware sales than the other consoles.

I could almost see this happening except for the fact that people see the wii's new control scheme as cool and want to have it. Even though a lot of PS2 and Wii games are ports of each other I do not see it taking that many sales from it. Who knows maybe it could.
