It's 1,590,000 for Layton 1 US/EU. Seems like vgchartz tracks their recent games well.

Anyway, aside from DQVIII sales of their RPGs are in decline ever since DC1.

Do you realize in what conditions Rogue Galaxy was released in the west? It wasn´t even promoted and it came to way to late during the PS2 life-cycle here. White Knight Chronicles on the other hand has surpassed DC 1 and 2 in sales in Japan.

You mean Wii and PSP? Because they have games for DS.

Anyway, looks like DQVIII has sold about 1.2m in the West. And damn this is impressive, it basically makes it the 3rd most successfull console jRPG in the West after FF and KH. Maybe it is indeed real to make the series popular here.
