Graphics: N64 had a better 3D engine and memory expansion, PS1 only was slightly better in 2D (although, not near the Saturn)
Cutscenes: PS1 because it had the FMVs
Controller: N64 had an awesome controller, PS1 at first didn't bring anything new, then the Dual-Analog came, and then the Dualshock, my favorite because it merged the SNES layout (best ever) and N64 analog-rumble in one controller.
Sound: PS1 hands down, better chip and more formats, also more space for CD-quality sound.
Storage: Obviously PS1, low space cartridges vs CDs.
Delay: Obviously N64, almost electronic speed vs CD-reading speed.

Games: Let me see:

N64: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (best of the system IMO), Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros, Pokemon Stadium, Majora's Mask, Perfect Dark, the Mario Parties, Paper Mario, Superman 64 (just kidding jejeje)...

PS1: Final Fantasy VIII-VII-IX!!!, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Megaman 8-X4-X5-X6-Legends I-II, Chrono Cross, the Crashes and the Spyros, Gran Turismo, Wipeout, Suikoden, the Breath of Fire's, Dragon Quest VII, Star Ocean 2, Tales of Destiny-Eternia, Resident Evil 1-2-3, Tenchu, the fighting games that weren't on the Saturn (like the Tekken's), Final Fantasy Tactics, Tony Hawk series, Legend of Mana, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Persona 1-2...

I have to go with PS1, but i still love both consoles...

forgot about Crash, Twisted Metal, Spyro, Tomb raider, Medal of Honor and Driver ;)

I mentioned "the Crashes and the Spyros", as for Tomb Raider, i always play them on PC, even the 1st one i played it on DOS...

But you're right, i forgot Twisted Metal, Medal of Honor and Driver.

sorry your list was so big I got blind for a second x_x

PS1 didn't have Mario!

N64 didnt have Crash Bandicoot

Playstation One! I owned a N64 way before i picked up a PS1 then my PS1 collection grew faster than N64 could release good games.

It's quite funny: Each week there is a new thread about "which was better?" and it always turns out that way: The Sony fans go for the Sony system and the Nintendo fans for the Nintendo system. Coincidence?

I can't decide between both consoles actually. The N64 had some truly groundbraking games (Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye...) but the PSX had a bigger number of good games even though they weren't as groundbraking for the most time. I don't know.

n64 - Zelda Ocarina of time, Extreme G, Mario Kart, Mario64, Goldeneye etc

I acutally sold my PS1 back in the days, because I did not like it. (especially the controller)

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Nintendo 64...
1. Super Mario 64
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3. GoldenEye 007
4. Mario Kart 64
5. Perfect Dark
6. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

The N64 Control Pad, the four controller ports...

Yes, I'm sure, Nintendo 64 rules.

Both had amzing games
but Im going to pick PS1

Simple to anwser indeed. PS1 but a country mile... all the N64 had was a dozen of good first party games, the PS1 had it all, in every genre...

The Nintendo 64 has three of my top 10 favorite games of all time, but the PS1 had a much greater library of awesome games.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

N64 easily.

Awesome new controller and so many good single and 4 player games.

Did PS1 have anything to match Goldeneye or PD?

Crash whatshisname v Mario 64, no contest.

OoT.
