And Appolose.

Your marvellous argument turned me over. That well written post, with good reasoning, made me realize the truth.

Truth be told, I am shocked that  people (3, here) find Okami's soundtrack not all that great.  I, for one, have found it to be the absolute best compilation of music ever on a game (I think it better than most (if not all) non-game music, even).  And I certainly think it better than SMG's (which, to be honest, while I thought was good, wasn't all that good).  And definitely better than Zelda.  While both certainly have catchy tunes, beauty like Okami they have not.

no

Oh yes. Better than Zelda.

Okami

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

How can you say that? This is torture!

... Wait

Okay, I listened to the Okami music again...

It's far better than I remembered. It's fantastic. I really love it (and remember that I did while playing it). No clue why I thought it was bad.

It's not as good as Zelda to me, but I can actually understand that someone thinks so (that's kinda much coming from me. Ocarina of Time might be my favourite music of all time. That's not just video game music. It might be my favourite piece of music overall).

Well, I can live with that.

Yes, game music is very important to me, inside and outside the games.

I got all of the 5 wonderful Orchestral Game Concerts on CD and listen to them every day in my car.

I imported music from games I played as well as from games I never played, such as Shadow of the Colossus.

I watched the Murasama: The Demon Blade promo video about 100 times just for the fantastic music. I'm probably the only one who wants the soundtrack for this game even more than the game itself.

I love the music in Galaxy, but Okami has a completely forgotten sound track.

wat

I actually agree with Nordlead here. The only thing that wasn't top-notch quality in Okami was the music. It's a decent soundtrack (and I prefer it over most games), but compared to Zelda, Fire Emblem and SMG it completely pales.

no

I wouldn't necessarily include SMG in that list as it's just remixes of older songs in quite a few places, but Zelda and Fire Emblem obliterate Okami in music.  I can remember dozens of memorable songs from them whereas I can remember maybe one from Okami.

And Zelda isn't? Honestly, maybe 1/10 of Galaxy's soundtrack consists of arrangements (and then I'm being generous and include stuff like Battlerock).

^I had a flatmate that used to like to listen to music while playing games, drove me nuts. I struggle to focus on games when there is different music on, so generally i'd rather have the game's crap music on, than some random background tunes.

I'm one of those weird people that need something in the background to be able to concentrate, whether it's the radio, music, TV or other people talking. If it's totally silent, I can't focus. Even when I'm studying, I need some sorta noise.

very very important. If i can remember a song after palyed the videogame, then taht game was probably a good game!
