Why must I read threads by people who make things up so that they can complain about them.

It's just a bunch of nonsense. Until all modern consoles are download only the gaming industry has to deal with the resale market. You shouldn't feel bad about buying used games and then reselling said game back when you're done with it.
You buy a game new because you want it in perfect quality, and id suggest you only ever want buy special editions new anyway, or because you want to play it at release. Otherwise it makes more sense to buy used.
If a game is that good then you will be forced to buy new anyway because all the used copies are already bought and everyone who owns it keeps it.

(Sounds like someone trying to defend the enemies in Gradius actually). And then this line at the end: Oh boy..... BTW if you see a copy of Valkyria Chronicles buy it please. And there are others. This one was begging me to buy Valkyria Chronicles. |
Really? I just read through the entire thread. The only person that mentioned to buy Valkyria Chronicles was the OP. The entire two pages of replies had no mention of having to buy it to "save the industry". When you came in and bitched about it, the OP promptly responded letting you know it was merely a joke on his part and he almost thought of swapping Valkyria out for Yakuza 3 as his joke example.
Try again richard because that example is a total failure.
The reason the push for VC is so strong is because the game bares a little bit for many types of game lovers, not just SRPG fans. It has a mix of...
-SRPG Elements
-Tactical Elements
-F/TPS Elements
VC fans think this could appeal to many more gamers then those who have initially purchased it. It is just a suggestion, not the law though.

Putting a game down peoples throats is meaningless. But that's a common thing on the internet. Such an attitude is actually the beginning of fanboyism. That's why we have so many console fanboys around - people believe that by "advertising" their console and hyping its games they will get more people to buy it.
While in fact - internet gaming community is such a minority that any kind of "hype" there means nothing and fanboys are just wasting their time.
Hell, I don't know what you're talking about. I've been the biggest promoter of the game, and I've never done something like that.
I want and think everyone to try the game. It's the best game this generation in my opinion and I think others should give it a shot. How is this any different from people recommending Okami or No More Heroes?

Plus, the thread was in direct reference to Sega. Obviously he's going to mention a Sega game...
Working at SEGA, I know that there was never a "buy this game to save the industry" part to any of the marketing or messaging that went out with the game.
People suggest the game because they like it, and they probably feel that you would too. If you aren't interested it should be as easy as saying "No thanks", or if you are interested just ask for more info or check around the web.
There is a little truth to the notion that buying the game helps the genre; when it all comes down to it, gaming is a business and games that don't sell don't see sequels; games that turn a big profit are much more likely to see a continuation - even if sales for the game are over longer periods of time, which Valkyria is seeing.
I think the bottom line is simply that people who play the game understand what a gem it is - one of those games that you know will be a classic even ten or twenty years from now. When hardcore fans truly have a passion for a game, and with Valkyria as an example, when that game doesn't sell as well as they know it should - that's when the fans will often try to help by spreading the word. Honestly, I think it's fantastic - and I'm right there among them.
