Forums - Sony - The next Metal Gear to be exclusive?

Alot of people want to see it multiplatform. Alot of those people don't give a damn about Metal Gear. Alot of those same people don't want a PS3...

MGS4 sales were great when compared to the Previous games.

PS3 and 360 gamers are not the same. Don't look at the top 5 exclusive games, look at the sales of the top 5 exclusive games on each system and it's pretty clear what games each system has fans for.

Another PS3 MGS would be alot cheaper to develop than the first.

Kojima said he wouldn't be involved in the development of the next MGS... he said the same thing for MGS3 and 4... It all changed when fans started complaining, and the man even got death threats...

Some guy: Konami shouldn't sacrifice the game's quality by putting it on inferior hardware.

Bodhesatva: I agree, the game should be on the PC. Limitless control options and much more power than either the PS3 or 360.

Some guy: Er, I meant the PS3. I don't think the game would sell well enough on the PC.

Bodhesatva: Ah, If sales are the concern, then obviously the game should be multiplatform. PS3/360, and possibly even PC or Wii, if the porting costs aren't too high.

Some guy: But that will compromise the game's power!

Bodhesatva: Alright... then put the game on the PC, like I said. It's the most open platform that gives Kojima the most options.

Som guy: But the sales!

I'm positive it will be a PS360 game. I can't imagine them making another exclusive, unless Sony pays Konami big time.

Given Kojima has more pull at konami now, theres no chance in hell he will water down his beloved franchise to make it work on inferior hardware.

4 million sold and launched on 10 millin user base, no need for going multi.

If Kojima gave a shit about that he'd be making MGS for the PC.

He won't for the same reason he didn't do part 3. No analog. Don't ask me why he doesn't just add different controller supports, that's just what he said. I don't thinks he wants to design controls for a keyboard.

That's bull, analog is available in the PC.

The fact remains, if Kojima cared about the best hardware he'd be on the PC.

He's got other priorities on his mind, whatever these are, can only be speculated about.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Like I said before, Kojima confirmed that he won't be part of the next MGS so please put it aside from this discussion.

Yeah, right. He probably forgot that around the time MGS4 sold its 3 millionth copy. Developers are funny like that.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

I don't believe he ever said that, actually.

He said he wanted a small role in it, as a sort of supervisor, to correct things if he saw they were going wrong. He thinks that his team is experienced enough to make a game without too much of his help. Of course, he tried that with MGS4, and he ended up having to delay it seven months, and it still wasn't the way he wanted it (which surprises me, because it was awesome. It could have been more awesome).

He also said that he has a few ideas for the next game, and he doesn't want to use those, because then his role in the game development will be too large, but I think, with all due respect, he's being a drama queen, and he'll probably be just as involved in MGS5 as he was in MG-MGS4.

He'll definitely be involved somehow, even if it's just as a producer.
