Man this thread dive bombed quickly

1) never call a Wii game a flop after 1 week of sales, you will look like an idiot if you do

2) Madworld was released in Europe for 2 days, and has not seen an Australian release yet

3) People did not call LBP a flop. Before it was released, Sony fanboys were overhyping it, claiming it would sell over 5 (or even in some cases) 10 million. We laughed at these people, but that does not mean the game was a flop

4) (and this isn't at the OP) Madworld is quite well suited to the Wii. In my opinion, it wouldn't have sold as well on the PS360 because it is too unique, too different.

5) Why did you create this thread? Certainly not to have a discussion, because in the OP you ask a question, then answer it and pretend that your answer is the only correct one.

This game would have sold asstons more on the 360... it's not unique in any sense but it's art direction...

People say this, but I'm not as sure. The 360's library for brawlers is already very strong. Ninja Gaiden alone fulfills most of those needs!

I just have a feeling i would be lost in the shuffle, like every other game by this studio.

(I hope it is not lost in the shuffle here)

This game is beat your face in... 360 owners really don't have a high quality ass kicking title like this.  Ninja Gaiden fulfils the need to be a Ninja that doesn't act like a Ninja, but still wield their weapons and looks like them.  I think it would have done better than Too Human maybe even hit in the 300k-500k range in not more... depends on how much advertising it got.

NOW WAIT----let me get this straight….it only had two major markets…and was only out for two days in one of those…and almost had 100k for the first week…..and this is a flop?

When you look at other games it looks kind of weak... you better hope this shit takes off or you Wii only owners are well and truely fucked

I think we should wait a bit more, and anyway, I wouldn't use Mad World, Deadly Creatures or whatever supposed "core" games you want as a sign of "core games" not being able to sell on the Wii. I doubt its sales would be much better on the other consoles. what people want (especially those who want flops and not success) is Mad World/Deadly Creatures matching the sales of the Mass Effects and Fallouts, which are nowhere near the Wii, and at this point I don't believe there will be any equivalent. if anything, the sales of World at War shows that if someone is able to push a game with mass market appeal, with a reasonably higher budget , the problem might not be with the userbase itself. and what I also think is important in this matter is having a steady flow of these games being released, which is also nowhere near the Wii. once in a blue moon will not help estabilishing a genre on a console (Banjo-Kazooie anyone?)

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

So is it safe to say that the Wii is a system where the majority of its 48M is casual gamers? Or are people going to continue the argument that there is no Hardcore or Casual gamers and claim that the people who own a Wii are the same people who would play gears?

It just seems that whenever someone brings up the subject that the Wii can't support 3rd parties or Hardcore titles people get mad and claim otherwise but I mean Madworld was Hyped up critically and I've seen some people on THIS site say that it was going to sell around KZ2 numbers, Maybe it might have legs but I doubt it.

I do think that if this game was done on the Xbox 360 it could have been something big. And Im a PS3 fanboy

I think.... I think it may be more the problem that people are very narrow about what hardcore games count, you know? There are a lot of different genres of hardcore games. A very good argument could be made for Zelda as a hardcore series, and the same is true of Mario, or even Pokemon.

Yea Shadow, most of Wii fanboys just wont accept it so I let it be.

I don't know is Zelda "hardcore" but its not casual...I would say its hardcore. But not Mario or POkemon.

Well, why not? Why would you have doubts about any of them? Or Zelda?

It will have average sales at best. Sega probably had higher hopes than that considering the amount of advertising we saw.

I think people forget that Madworld is a very specific game , with distinctive artstyle, over the top violence and cell shaded graphics. Its not a typical "hardcore" game not only on Nintendo console, but you dont find many games like it on either 360 and PS3 and thats a fact. My sales expectations were around 500k lifetime, and game will get there easily.

About Others sales, were they are somewhat dissapointing 12k in first week is medicore at best, but im confident that good word of mouth, people seeking new type of game on the Wii will pick it up, i really expect second week to be higher then the first. And like House of the Dead game will have decent legs in others. People have to remember that the game is banned in few countries.

Sales in America are very good on the other side.
