Forums - Nintendo - "The Wii doesn't sell quality games" - Any examples to back this up?

Well, for one none of Suda's previous games have sold well. Two, going to see a movie is cheaper than buying a game (and at least you don't need systems to watch a movie at the theater. It's still an action movie at heart right? Plus movies are able to make more money than games.

Well, can you explain why No More Heroes would be niche while GTA isn't?

Um what? Can you explain why de Blob is niche and Halo isn't? You are comparing two games from completely different genres here. A more absurd comparison I really can't imagine. And you have heard about the No More Heroes sequel right? The one made because the game sold so well? Not every game is destined to be a multi-million seller. Funny thing is developers seem to know this going in. Thats why franchises that sell less than a million an iteration keep on going.

IDK how GTA got popular. But at least it's an IP from the PS1 era and not a new IP and has a lot of marketing. Oh, and GTA doesn't have nerd humor, it's just gangsters and whatever.

Apparently, you didn't spend much time watching the tv programs in GTA IV.

They're not two different genres.  They're both action games.  And they're also very similar thematically.  If they were books instead of games they'd be sitting in the same section.

Soriku, you can't provide negative examples - i.e. it's almost impossible to prove something doesn't happen, because it's impossible to point out specific cases!!

That and your question can be interpreted in a lot of ways.

No, no they wouldn't, you have to be joking, stop saying things like this, my brain is on fire.

Well Soriku, first off, whaat game do you consider to have high quality? Madworld? the conduit? Little Kings Story? GTA? What kind of game?

IMO The best games that have come out for the Wii have mostly preformed well while some have not (Zack&Wiki No More Heroes for exmaple). Fact of the matter is that the Wii has not recieved a pure AAA title for a long time and has had a very low amount of AA and A tier titles coming out lately so in a sense you are right about a lack of quality titles thus them not selling.

Truth be told the only games that will be quality AAA titles for the Wii will have to come out from nintendo themselves, since no other company seems to be bothered to do so. Or at least hasn't been until now.

tell you what, if the Conduit, Final fantasy crystal Bearers, Monster hunter and the next big shooter for the Wii (red steel 2 or maybe Call of duty 6) fail to sell 1,5 million each......well that will actually prove that the Wii might be incapable of selling anything except for Nintendos own franchises.

This!!

quantity doesnt equal quality people

What bookstores do you frequent?  In almost any I go to, they would be on the same shelf.  They're both noire /  crime fiction type books.  In the first instance you have the story of an immigrant to America who is forced to earn hs way to the top of the food chain by pursuing a life of crime and in the second instance you have the story of a guy who has some kind of relationship with a modern noire-esque heroine (much as in Cowboy Bebop) who is on a course of revenge against a group of assassins.

No, no you don't! Wow.

No More Heroes isn't a noir/crime type story at all! It is a postmodern meditation on the nature of people who play violent video games for the sake of playing violent video games, who go through extremely boring things so as to get their fix of violence. I hate to say something this poncy about a game like No More Heroes, but it woul be much more "literary" than Grand Theft Auto IV.

Sounds like Natural Born Killers frequently found in the crime section of any dvd store.
