They're not two different genres. They're both action games. And they're also very similar thematically. If they were books instead of games they'd be sitting in the same section.

No, no they wouldn't, you have to be joking, stop saying things like this, my brain is on fire.

What bookstores do you frequent? In almost any I go to, they would be on the same shelf. They're both noire / crime fiction type books. In the first instance you have the story of an immigrant to America who is forced to earn hs way to the top of the food chain by pursuing a life of crime and in the second instance you have the story of a guy who has some kind of relationship with a modern noire-esque heroine (much as in Cowboy Bebop) who is on a course of revenge against a group of assassins.

No, no you don't! Wow.
No More Heroes isn't a noir/crime type story at all! It is a postmodern meditation on the nature of people who play violent video games for the sake of playing violent video games, who go through extremely boring things so as to get their fix of violence. I hate to say something this poncy about a game like No More Heroes, but it woul be much more "literary" than Grand Theft Auto IV.

Sounds like Natural Born Killers frequently found in the crime section of any dvd store.
