Forums - Sales - Dear JRPG Developers; You’ve made your bed, now lie in it. (HONEST article)

lol this article reeks of Sony fanboyism and seems whinish because PS3 isn't the lead platform for JRPGs. Not surprising coming from Darth who just made a topic on how MS is being whiny with their recent PR statements ignoring Sony's.

Izanagi, I respectfully disagree with you as you are false on many levels. Although coming from a Sony fanboy, I give thee thy benefit of the doubt.

It's been said already, but I do enjoy how the entire article's premise is based on criteria in which the PS3 is better than the 360...while ignoring how the Wii is better than the PS3 on these exact same things.

Oh, and Baki? The first rule for getting yourself out of a hole is to quit digging. Just saying.

I don't disagree that PS360 would have been better for the Japanese sales and probably even Western sales. However Japanese devs are not very much used to multiplatform development.

Other than that the article sounds like complaint #100 about how the PS3 doesn't have JRPGs and how it's their own fault that their sales are down by ignoring the PS3.

The PS3 fanboy aspect of this article becomes even clearer because it complete ignores Wii as a platform, while everything the aurthor writes could also be, even more, applied to Wii. But by the time Wii and PS3 launched most devs had already gone with 360.

I ignored the DS and PSP as well. Thats because this article was about HD gaming. Plus putting the games on the Wii would mean some gameplay changes for the games.

This particular article is talking about an alternative that the developers chose to ignore. An alternative where the game would've remained relatively the same.

And yes, in a way, this is a complaint about developers ignoring the PS3 to its own detriment in favour of an Xbox 360 exclusive.

No it doesn't. Not all Wii games require waggle (esp not JRPGs).

A Wii game without a waggle is basicly a Gamcube game.

Uh...no,

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of putting it on the Wii. Might as well put it on the PS2 if you're not going to play to the platforms strengths. Not to mention that not everyone has a classic controller and controlling a game normally using the Wii mote is not comfortable at all.

You have got to be kidding.  The simple fact that you are not locked in to having your hands three inches apart makes the Wiimote/Nunchuck combination extremely comfortable.

Not when you hold it like this...

Why would you have to?

That's just stupid.

I mean the Wii comes with a nunchuck as well.

Square Enix is dead to me now, I hope they like what they are getting. That's what happens when you put a JRPG exclusivley on a console that isn't selling that well in a main area (Japan, 360), it just didn't work.

Everyone here know's the impact good RPG's have in Japan on PS3, you can't deny that. So there's no one to blame here but square enix.

Perhaps improved future business decisions will ensure better sales, and reach a larger fan base. Regardless, I am enjoying a lot of RPG's on my 360, and loving it....:)

^ That guy is such a moron

^ I disagree. I think he's awesome.

MSFT could care less about any of these games making a profit. Their primary goal was to keep the games OFF the sony platform. They succeeded. And you are right, we all suffer as a result....

Trying to convince me the Wii is a real adult game machine 'if you play it right' is like trying to convince me Tofu tastes great 'if you just cook it right'

LOL...and if killzone and resistance had been on 360, they would have been charters, rather than lagginf fps in sales...so what's the point of these articles?

The problem is that this gen is kinda shitty (imo) and quite a few gamers are starting to smell the stink it seems.
