Forums - Nintendo - Punch Out vs Super Punch Out

The Wii version would be better with 3 short rounds.... playing Wii Boxing is tiring enough as it is.... a nice break between rounds is welcome.

TBH I probably won't be buying Punch Out Wii, neither have I played the NES or SNES games, so I shall promptly leave this thread

Super Punch Out is more fun.

 Opinion.

Tune in next post to watch GamingChartzFTW conclude that water is wet.

Is water wet when it is frozen? Mmmmm?  :/

The thing that made the NES version better was because you could see all of little mac with some space below him and you could see the whole ring. With Super Punch Out it was half the body of your boxer and too close to the other boxer.

Just the different camera angle is what made the experience better for me

But hey that is my opinion.

So I have mixed feelings about the Wii version.

Friends Forever nyu~

Anyone here want to defend the ARCADE game? Either of the arcade games actually. That was THE BOMB back in the day. Two screens, and the KO button you would smack to do the knockout. The NES game was good in its own right, and the SNES game had merit, but the arcade original is where it is at, I believe. I wish there was a DS version that would be like it.

Here it is in action:

And here is more info on it, including a picture of the cabinet:

^^

I have played the original arcade (which is damn hard) but I don't remember much about it.

It's strange. I agree with every factor that you posted up there, every single reason why Super is superior to the NES version, and yet I still liked the NES version better for some reason. I'm not going to try to explain why, because I know I'll fail, but Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! was just more fun than Super Punch-Out!

Mind you, this is like losing the gold to Michael Phelps by under a second. Anyone who doesn't love both of those games just plain doesn't know what fun is...

I know why you can't explain it, its the suttleness of the camera angle and how much of the ring you can see. It makes a difference.

It took me a while to realise that too when I played both games.

Like I said, to each his own, but the whole ring thing doesn't do much for me. I feel too removed from the action compared to SPO. Also, so much of the space just sits unused.

I just downloaded Punchout on the VC today. Pretty fun! ^_^
