Bingo!

This is saying MP3 outsold Bioshock LAST WEEK. You know, Bioshock's second week, not that it outsold Bioshock in it's first week, since, obviously, MP3 wasn't available at the time. The article actually points back to Gamasutra which is talking about ... the dreaded AMAZON RANKINGS. 

@white devil - Sorry, but that's completely bogus. System Shock 2 was totally different in terms of mainstream hype (it's really more of a cult-classic). Bioshock has been hyped hard, and is on a console this time (360) with only a handful of other games offering it any real competition on the system right now. You can't equate the marketing situations of these two games just because one is a pseudo-successor to the other.

Edit - @epsilon - Of a handful of people who I know bought the game, several of them bought the PC version, including BenKenobi and myself. The PC version has definite advantages, and regardless of how well you think the PC version will sell compared to the 360 version, you can't pretend that lopping off the PC sales figures will not subtract from the total number of Bioshock sales.

It says it is compairing first week sales for each.

HOWEVER, I see no numbers for either one in either link.

This source isn't reliable. My guess is he misinterpreted the press release from Amazon.com In fact he even quote them!

Amazon didn't provide numbers as well, they just stated that Metroid was the winner that weak, and sold more copies than Bioshock in the same weak. I have no clue about Bioshock's 2nd week number. But it's not gonna be anywhere near the 400.000 first week's sales! So it's a bit premature to say Metroid sold more than 400.000 units. I'm hoping it will though.

False alarm, apparently the blogger noticed something wrong. Anyway, we won't know for sure until ioi come back.

If MP3 sold over 400,000 in it's 1st week that means that already almost 10% of US Wii owners have brought it :O

We know this, but the guy is looking at gamasutra's Amazon analysis to say MP3 outsold Bioshock. He's not looking at any sales numbers for last week.
