BTW, here's the link to the NeoGAF Aggregate:

39 Falcons, 0 Jaspers, and 1310 Xenon/Refurbs

That's a pretty big difference, no?

"809 dead consoles, from 585 individual posters. Refurb failure rate is 38%."

Thats mad!  Lots of people have had multiple 360s fail.  One guy "sado | AggravatedGamers" had 12!

Thats is old data though!

The data goes up to February 2009. That's not old data.

The issue with refurbs are they are old refurbs...If your xenon dies, you get a xenon, not a Falcon....At least for most older ones, as they go through the system.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

yes it still happens, the best thing to do is make sure you get a Jasper model
Here is a link on how to identify the Jasper

You should congratulate me. I destroyed the vile red falcon and saved the universe. I consider myself a hero.

I just got my Falcon back, they have replaced the motherboard.  Im not sure if its new or a refurb (S/N is the same!) but I wish they would of given me a Jasper as Im sure this one will die again!

Also the warranty was only extended by 6 months!!

I am not a happy bunny and I am going to complain about it!

Just as much as your posts. Am I safe for now?

Excuse me?  I didn't realize I went on and made stupid statements like that every new 360 gets RRoD, 100%, without question.

I think the honest answer is if you purchased an older model or bought one second hand you could still suffer a higher mortality rate than you might wish. On the other hand if you purchase a new model i.e. the Jasper version it is very likely you will find you have a console with the same or better reliability than the competition.

I recently purchased the arcade model and I still have my original pro model the only thing I would stay RROD aside is that the new ones are a lot quieter then the originals. As I approach the 3 year window my machine may go kaputz (and I am secretly hoping it will in the vain hope I get a quieter machine) but I have some piece of mind in the form of an extended warranty.

For my part the RROD is confined to history (And I have one of those historical timebombs waiting to go off) but due to the console wars it is a weapon any proud PS3 Fanboy will have in his arsenal along with the Xbox live costs money and PSN is free arguement.

No. RROD is no longer an issue in new X360 consoles. You have a three year warranty on every new X360 console purchased. If there is a problem call the XBox Call Centre and it should be rectified ASAP.
