Resident Evil 5 isn't as good as RE4 but it's still better than the older games which are mediocore as sin IMO. To be honest none of the games are that scary anyway. Any time something remotely scary would happen in the older games I would be looking at the controller wondering what kind of moron would design a control scheme so ghastly. Neither RE4 or 5 are scary either but at least the're actually fun to play.

The worst thing about Res5 imo is the enemies with guns.
On a deeper note, when playing solo there is quite a bit of atmosphere in the earlier levels, later levels dont have it quite as much.
When playing co-op the game for me was more of a giggle, running away and screaming for you're life and such.

Im not saying i don't like it, but i do agree, it isnt resident evil at all ,4 +5 are more Spin offs, resident evil 1-3 ps1 , remake and zero had the best style ,actual zombies scary camera angles in rooms low ammo plenty of monsters i did enjoy 4 haven't played 5 yet i assume it will be similar in game play to 4 they should have been side projects ,for the next resident evil id like a one with game play similar from 1-3 and its online features game play like resident evil outbreak

I know that the year is only 2 months old, so I'll correct myself and say best co-op game of this year, because I don't think any game this year could beat it.

Resident evil 4 was the best game of last gen. Although not as scary as the original it had its shocking moments like when the chainsaw dude cuts off your head. Resident Evil 5 is suprisingly tame when compared. For example they have cut out the beheading. When the chainsaw dude gets you the screen flashes and you just die- No beheading. Wussup with that are you telling me a Gamecube Game is more hardcore then a PS360 game? That's crazy.

The Gameplay in RE4/5 is much better then the originals. Even if RE 1 was scarier. If you don't think a game can have these types of controlls and stll be scary then you need to try Dead Space that game is horrifying.

And those who don't want Resident Evil to be like Gears of war should know the developers of Gears were heavily influenced by Resident Evil 4's gameplay not the other way around.

Anyway RE5 is a solid 9. Great game but not as revolutionary as part 4.

Resident Evil 5 shouldn't be an action adventure game. It shouldn't be an HD version of the originals either. I bought RE 1-RE Code Veronica, and let me tell you, I was a little burned out by the last two (only finished CV one time and RE3 twice). Resident Evil 4 WAS a breath of fresh air. I bought it twice. I still look forward to playing it again.

I'm getting RE5 today. From what I hear, it's disappointing to a lot of people (who may or may not have played it yet). Hopefully, next time Capcom can hit that "sweet spot" and satisfy fans od the old style AND the new. In the meantime, this is what we got. I damn sure ain't missing out on the game. This is one of gamings biggest franchises. Even if it's not a scary game, I've yet to play a (not counting spin-offs) bad Resident Evil.
