Forums - Sales - Halo Wars Outsells KillZone 2 In First Week In US

People expect this to drop, its a brilliant game so it could do well on word of mouth.

Either way Halo Wars will top Killzone 2 LTD in America.

That may well be, who knows yet.

Unfortunately US =/= WW.

Still, great sales for this game.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I wonder how many of those 400k + people thought that the game was actually an FPS.

I wonder how many times people are going to fling that about

Stop acting like Halo Wars got the majority of it's sales because people thought it was an FPS ... I'd be surprised if even 1% of it's sales were the result of that.

Lengthy ads featuring no gameplay and you'd be shocked if even 1% bought the game ignorantly ?

OK, that might be a bit far fetched, but if I should gess I would say 20% thaught it was a FPS, 20% bought it knowing it was a good RTS and 60% bought it for the Halo name... I know that these % are taken from my a$$ but also I dont bealive that they are really far from the truth :|

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Well, Killzone 2 outsold Halo Wars in Europe (Others) in both weeks

I think most people expected that. I'm a little surprised KZ2 is doing better worldwide, considering the 8 million gap and the Halo name. That's not a knock on Halo Wars ( I have the game), I'm just glad Killzone 2 is doing well.

Halo brand + double install base compared to PS3 = huge sales in america.

Never thought of it that way. If anything it is sad that Halo Wars did not sell more.

Still sort of surprising. For all the hype that kz2 received, I would have really expected the fanboys to make it the best selling game of the month at least.

This "hype" falls under the "Snakes on a Plane/Ron Paul" Effect.  They hype worldwide for KZ2 isn't as large as people on the internet make it out to be.  Halo is Halo.  The name is know, far more than Killzone 2.

In regards to people mindlessly buying Halo Wars because they think it is a FPS.  What percentage want to buy a FPS just because it was released?  People who bought it immediately have been waiting for it for months, so almost all likely know it is not a FPS, because they are waiting for it and likely tried the demo.
