Just as a clarfication. I am assuming that the actual numbers are

PC 87%
360 6.5%
Wii 3.something%
PS3 3.something%

As in, the 360 has 50% of the 'console market share' for online

Anyway, huge jump for the Wii 18-29 in a year. Partially due to Mario Kart, but what other games do we think are responsible. CoD?

No, for clarification it was 20,000 people polled about 5,000 of whom played online (25%).  Of those 25%, 87% of them gamed online using the PC.  50% of those 5,000 gamed online using the 360.  29% of those gamed using the Wii, and 20% of those used the PS3 online.

That totals to like 186%.

Your "clarification" is really wrong.

There were 20,000 people polled.  Approximately 5,000 (25%) of them played games online.  Of those 25%, 87% of them gamed online using the PC.  50% of those 5,000 gamed online using the 360.  29% of those gamed using the Wii, and 20% of those used the PS3 online.

For example, if I were polled I would have answered PC, Xbox 360, Wii.  Many people use multiple systems.  The fewest people used the PS3 and nearly 50% of the online gamers used the 360.

Ahh, rightio. That is quite impressive then

Hint: None of those options are mutually exclusive.

But since this information is presented in such an unclear fashion, I'm not sure if any useful conclusions can be drawn other than online gaming is much stronger on the Wii than it was a year ago.

As I said, I would have responded:

PC

360

Wii

I updated the OP to be very clear.

Same way they know software sales, they ask :P

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

this is biased the article doesn't even mention what those 5000 had for a console, lets say 2500 of them owned a wii and 1450 of them played online compare to maybe 1300 who owned a ps3 and 1000 who play online the stats wouldn't look the same

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

didnt ask me

Umm, shouldn't it be 29% of online gamers use the wii to play online.  These numbers don't tell us what percentage of Wii or PS3 owners play online, so I'm not sure why you are comparing in that way.  We don't know if there are 20,000 Wii owners in this poll or 2000.
