I think Wii Sports Resort will boost sales for a few weeks. But later this year I think Nnitendo will drop its price, but ONLY in Japan.

Price drop is a last resort. Nintendo still hasn't introduced colors or bundled it with major software.

You're right. I am actually surprised that we haven't gotten black. Nintendo says it is because the white one sells so much, well, that is because it is the only color! If they release it in black, sales could go up a bit in every region maybe.

Sales = supply

Creating As many black Wii's as white means shutting down half of the Wii making factories for about 2 weeks, cleaning them to make sure there's none of the  white plastic still in the system, and then restarting them.

This would reduce supply by half of 2 weeks worth, , ie 600k units

With supply lower, sales would be lower.

Once Ninty can produce fast enough to meet demand, then we will see colors in Japan

Well being that demand has ben met in Japan for quite some time, why haven't we seen these colors.

Wiis are region specific, so I think there is more to it than just meeting demand.

Only certain parts of the Wii are region specific, and most of the case isn't

I agree outlaw.

1. Continue to appeal to the casual gamers who dominate the marketplace by ensuring that novel quirky games like WiiFit and Brain Age are arriving on store shelves at least twice a year so games like Little Big Planet can't lure away your audience.

2. Linking the Wii and DS success. Since both systems run wifi Nintendo could link them a lot more than they do. Since the DS userbase is much much larger than the Wii base it would give incentive to DS users to purchase a wii and also to buy both the DS and Wii versions of games if special items or characters could be swapped between the two.

The Wii is *still* 5m units ahead of the PS3 in Japan. At 50k/week, that would take TWO years for the PS3 to catch up - assuming the Wii sells 0 units.

Pokemon, Tales Of, New Mario Party, New Zelda, New Mario Galaxy, FZero, Dragon Quest X, Monster Hunter 3, Mario & Sonic at Winter Olympics...

Worst case, they just reduce the price - or put out a WiiFit/Wii bundle.

Just a thought, didn't DS go through a similar drought early on in its life in Japan?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

A few of them. Even the PS2 had some dry spells.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Thought so..Yeah i was going to bring up the PS2, but figured whatever. My point was really that this isn't a phenomena exclusive to the Wii.
