Forums - Nintendo - How can Wii sustain its leading position in Japan?

It needs to have some big games released. These small RPGs aren't doing much of anything. (Fragile, Arc Rise Fantasia, Kizuna, Tales Wii, etc.)

Get another game from a big series.

Tales isn't a small RPG. At least, not the main games. I would be surprised if Tales of Ten sold anything less than 400k. That would put it above any RPG released on the PS3 or 360 so far and still be pretty midling for a mothership Tales title.

WSR, Wiimotion+, 2 MonsterHunter games, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts (presumably), the upcoming FFCC game, Sin and Punishment 2, Pikmin 3, new colours besides white

and if all that fails, a price drop or a bundle

I was talking about the Tales the Wii has now.

I'm sure Tales of Ten will do much better than Dawn of the New World.

well seeing how wii is host to the biggest games in japan.

i dont see how a console with monster hunter tri and dragon quest ten can not be in first place.

and i am sure many many more big japanese games will be announced in the coming months because of the recent announcement of dragon quest ten on wii

hello how are you.

Wii Sports Resort to maintain and attract more casual gamers...
Monster Hunter Games to attract some of the "hardcore" fans of the psp
New colors or a price cut to appeal to some new customers

I think Wii Sports Resort will boost sales for a few weeks. But later this year I think Nnitendo will drop its price, but ONLY in Japan.

Price drop is a last resort. Nintendo still hasn't introduced colors or bundled it with major software.

New stuff like Cosmic Walker, which will draw in new audiences is probably the key from Nintendo, alongside Punch Out, Wii Sports Resort, Kirby Wii, whatever other projects are in the pipeline. Combine that with DQX, MH, MH3 and Nintendo probably has at least four million selling Wii games yet to release in Japan, while PS3/360 have yet to have any.

You're right. I am actually surprised that we haven't gotten black. Nintendo says it is because the white one sells so much, well, that is because it is the only color! If they release it in black, sales could go up a bit in every region maybe.

...It's the Wii,Of course it can sustain it's lead.

Nintendo has an enormous back-catalog that has proven to sell huge amounts.

Never underestimate Nintendo(especially this gen).
