I should hope so, it's releasing a year and eight months later...

I'm not a tech savvy guy. I'm just a sassy boy! But didn't Gears of War 1 & 2 support two player split screen where a second player could jump in at any time? Doesn't that mean that the 360 had to have the horsepower to render the same awesome game twice for two different players? If so, if all of the 360's strength were pumped into an awesome single player game, could it potentially look as good? ANSWER ME, DAMMIT!!

None of you knows.

However, there are several facts we can look at, and assumptions this thread makes that changes this question, focusing on the 360's assumed shortcomings:

The real question being asked is:

"Is the 360 capable of having a game with the graphical quality of Killzone 2, or better?"

The answer can only be an opinion.

However, lets examine that question.

A. Gears 2 isn't lightyears behind Killzone 2 in real screen for screen graphics.

B. However, Gears 2 is fully functional with a split screen multiplayer component.

C. The PS3 isn't regularly putting out games that look better than Gears 2.

D. In fact, only one has been released.

E. Who is to assume that the same thing couldn't happen for the Xbox 360?

In the end nobody knows, and few should care. The difference in high end graphics is only noticable to those who fanboy in such waters. Crysis beats the ass off Killzone 2 in every conceivable way(KZ2 fanboy Crysis hatethread not withstanding) graphically, yet nobody here plays up the PC, it has too many faults otherwise, as does the PS3. Most notably the price. KZ2 doesn't look TWICE as good as Gears 2. Why is it twice the price?

If you honestly believe that then I suggest you watch the limited edition bonus DVD as there is some excellent videos in there highlighting many of the changes in the engine they did.  It's actually very impressive all the tweaks they did even on the main characters while still giving the overall impression the graphics weren't changing much.  Big changes were improved models for all characters, improved lighting, destructable scenery and many more.  When you see the side by side shots and models its easy to see how much better they are. 

If the improvements between Gears 3 and Gears 2 is the same difference as there was between Gears 2 and Gears 1, there won't be a very big jump and that was 2 years seperation.

Well I hope for their sake GeoW3 surpasses Killzone 2 but it will not surpass Killzone 3.

Gears 3 will be more badass than KZ2. But not look as great because Epic can't make great looking games. After all they're primairly a game engine developer.

I believe Alan Wake will look better than KZ2 overall.

I enjoy talking about this because I will buy them all for either console.
