BTFeather55 said: About the games you mention, there is really little evidence that any of those will sell well. None of the more hc games that have appeared on the Wii have done that well up to this point. Wii Sports Resort will be a big test for Nintendo as it will show if their new market is really that interested in new games. Do the majority of those people even what motion plus is and would they feel motivated to buy it? Monster Hunter is also going to be on PSP. The game is more popular in Japan and PSP is more popular there as well. System sellers on PS3? All the usual ones that are coming, FF is more popular in the West than DQ, plus I'm expecting Hideo's Special Project to be coming to the PS3 and thanks to the success of the Yakuza series on the PS3 a certain special cinematic action adventure from one of the producers at Sega that is rated right up there with Kojima and Miyamoto that many fans have been waiting a long time for. |
Its true, that since these are mostly 3rd party titles with new IP I mentioned, that their success is hard to predict. As for past HC wii games, the 2 Resident Evil games have done quite well, over a mil each I think? Even the HotD 2&3 did well enough for Sega to make a brand new one. Of course, this is known IP, which makes a difference. As for MH, the basis of the game sounds like it would work well with the Wii controls. Also, MH3 is an exclusive for the Wii, PSP is getting a diff version last I read.
I don't know if people out there know what motion plus is, but they wil easily understand that there will be a 2nd Wii Sports game. Since its one of the most played titles on the Wii, I'm sure that the announcement of more of that series will get motion plus into their hands and they will learn what it does.
Is there a set date in 2009 for FF? Do any of the other games you mentioned have set 2009 release dates? You mention games by developers but no titles, which is why I ask. A game coming out this year should be well under way in its development and should be in beta testing or at least soon be.
