Forums - Microsoft Discussion - BioWare Expands Mass Effect 2 Team

http://news.softpedia.com/news/BioWare-Expands-Mass-Effect-2-Team-105894.shtml

BioWare is said to be creating a new studio within the Electronic Arts Montreal organization, which is set to bring in 30 new people that will join the efforts to develop Mass Effect 2, the successor to the well received RPG.

Ray Muzyka, who is one of the co-founders of BioWare, told Gamasutra that “Our new presence... will be located within the existing EA Montreal facilities. It's great that we have a strong foundation to build out of.” He added that “We'll be working together with our friends at EA Montreal. There's a great studio here continuing full-force with a whole bunch of really cool, exciting things as well.”

The positions that will be open at the new studio entity will be primarily for artists, animators and designers; so, if you have any of the above skills, keep an eye on the BioWare website and maybe you could work on the upcoming Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 2 has been rumored to be in development for quite some time now but only recently did BioWare officially unveil the game via a short trailer. The big selling point of that is the suggestion that Commander Shephard, the protagonist of the first game, might not be featured in the sequel, as he seems to have been killed in action. There's also a suggestion that he might return, but not in his previous human form. We're waiting to hear more about Mass Effect 2, which should be released sometime in 2010.

BioWare is quite the busy bee at the moment. It is working on a MMO, called Star Wars: The Old Republic, set in the same universe as the excellent Knights of the Old Republic role playing game series, while also hammering on the creation of a fantasy-themed role playing game in Dragon Age: Origins, which is reported to arrive in 2009 and is billed as the spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate.

One up side of this is that it's an indication that EA is supporting Bioware and giving them some autonomy in how they work.  Even if they make them rush it by a few months to make it into 2009, that would EASILY be offset if they had an extra 10-20 people working on the game.

Same here. I hope this game turns out well because the original Mass Effect was my favorite game this gen. It still hasn't been surpassed (for me) and I am eager for more.

Are you serious? Killzones graphics destroy ME's. ME was a gameplay and storyboard achievement but was still visually pleasing. The next one should be better.

Lol im sorry but i honestly dont see it... Maybie the enviroments in KZ are better... but the charecter models in ME are second to none.... except for the original skipper.... i will say that maybie...since i played the game a while ago my preception might be a bit squed, because the first time i saw ME charecters i was in awe

Technically speaking? I don't see how it's even close.

Aesthetics are another thing entirely.
