Magna Carta is one of the very few JRPG's I couldn't find my way to finishing. The story was mundane and didn't interest me at all (helping girl with amnesia just seems so cliche), and the battle system wasn't interesting enough to make up for the lack of interest in the storyline. I think I made it 10 or so hours before I just couldn't force myself any further.

Did you like Xenosaga's story?  Admittedly some of the characters in Xenosaga were decent, but the main plot was kinda on the awful side (for me).

Magna Carta is a bad game with a Fantastic storyline. And that girl with amnesia has bigger secert then you think.

If the game's story isn't interesting enough to make a person care enough to make it to that big secret then it doesn't matter what it is, and precludes the game from having a "fantastic story" as it isn't fantastic from start to end.

The story does not kick off until about 15 hours in but when it did kick off i found it to be one of the best storylines I have seen in a rpg.But everything else about the game sucks hard.

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria

Is the Magna Carta combat system just totally boring? And boring, as in... too easy? Same random encounter fights over and over? Or is it something else?

No it just sucks ass big time

Dark Cloud 2. Especially if you enjoyed Rogue Galaxy.

Dragon Quest VIII.

LaPucelle Tactics. Although it's very similar to Disgaea.

Phantom Brave. A different spin on the SRPG, but a classic in my opinion.

I have KH 1 & 2 (not the latest one though), Dark Cloud 1 & 2, DQ8, and I avoided LaPucelle because of its similarity to Disgaea.

I have *not* tried Phantom Brave, however. I was looking at it the other day, actually, and pondering it. That's not the game that's being remade soon for the PSP/Wii is it?

Shucks... kinda looking for a description a little more concrete than that.  Does the controller rumble the entire time during combat or somesuch?  Does it turn into Phantasy Star 2 when you fight?  Is the fighting system some slot-machine simulator, where you take no part in winning or losing, outside of pulling the handle?  "Sucks" describes so many bad things.
