Forums - Sony - Thank you Sony for not ruining the PS4!

Big relief? no.

Enjoy paying $90 for your games next gen.

This graphics and specs pursuit will kill the industry.

QFT To have any chance of success the PS4 needs to be affordable. The PS2 was the best gaming system of all time thanks to its games, not its hardware specs.

Please explain how next gen games will cost $90. Are their facts that back up that statement, or is it a number pulled out of someones ass? Would it be more difficult for Nintendo to develop an HD console compared to the competitors? Would it be more expensive to make?

No answers over 6 paragraphs, keep it simple and short.

99% of all numbers on vgChartz are pulled out of someone's arse.

Brett's not going to be happy about that statement young man!

Signature goes here!

damn sounds like i won't be able to afford this system either.

and heck even if it sells at 300 or 250 or whatever. If the games are still $60 or more then it will be too expensive for me. (or actually probably not by time comes out, i will be out of college and have a job)

but still that extra $10 for each game is a huge bite into ones wallet. That is main reason i have not bought any games on the ps3 or 360 and just rented them.

I also remember Mario face in the beginning, got so much fun out of nothing. Playing Galaxy, I triple jump everywhere, reminds me of playing Mario 64.

Also, Khuutra you seem to be putting way to much effort into arguing with a fan boy that has become partially delusional by having discussions on the internet with plenty of other people that share a similar opinion.

I meant the forums.

Wow, epic thread!

Anyway, no company will go all out next-gen. Nintendo proved it's not worth it. Microsoft probably the most, because they're most rooted in the "shootercore/graphiccore" audience. The "razorblade" model will likely also dissapear. There will certainly be a major leap in power, but nothing like this gen. Next gen PC's will earn their rightful place as the place for the best graphics again.

Also: Nintendo will likely start next gen with a lot of 3rd party support. I expect at least Sony, whose userbase is traditionaly less based on the "shootercore" than Microsoft, to try and get near the next Wii in power, so 3rd parties will make their games multiplat on PS4 as well.

Sony simply doesn't have the money to compete with Microsoft. And a situation where: Xbox3>>>>PS4>>>>>>WiiHD will be disastrous for everyone, especially 3rd parties. So Sony has to choose: stay close to Nintendo or stay close to Microsoft. I know what makes more business sense.

What's the razorblade model?

"Give them the razors and sell the blades". Ie. doing what you can to sell the consoles, even at a loss, so that they buy the more profitable software.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

If Sony does it right, the PSP2 could be more important than the PS4 and could be a huge moneymaker.  They're not in such a tight spot in portables (like, PSP sells really well despite the DS being huuuuge).  Nintendo will ride DSi for a while and Sony needs to drop the PSP2 this year.
