I really don't know... but i love my old cube!!!

Gamecube failed for 3 reasons...
1)Late comming into last generation and was also going up against the xbox(very close release dates)
2)Wether you like it or not Nintendo is seen as a Kiddy System mainly because of it's first party titles which appeal alot to kids...such as Mario...Zelda...even though I like these titles personally....and this generation Nintendo is making it worse with The Nintendo Wii...the name sounds Kiddy and the games releasing for it are even more kiddish...not to mention the Purple color of the Gamecube...
3)Lack of DVD...The DvD format really took of last generation and with the console lacking it...it gave people just another reason not to buy it...
No one knows.
Nintendo is marketing the Wii in the same vein as the Gamecube with it only plays video games philosphy and reinforced family gaming fun. Yet the Wii is a ravaging sucess and the Cube had moderate success.
Personally I think the Cube was a great system. I think it deserved more 3rd party support because the Xbox was not much farther ahead of sales but it got much more 3rd party support.
Love my Gamecube ebst consoel ever.
Why it failed? A lot of reasons, DVD and PS2 launch lead mostly.
You know what...Reading alot of what everyone is saying, it seems that the "New Play" Control series is a good idea. Cause it looks like it is giving them the chance to correct the mistakes made with the GC...
The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!
...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?
Because the N64 lost, so when the next generation came around gamers were quite willing to jump from the PS1 to PS2, especially considering the year head start the PS2 had. Also the GC had a terrible controller, if you walked into a retailer and tried to play a game doing anything other than moving the joystick and hitting A was made exceeding difficult by the poor design.
GCN was an interesting machine, it was different enough to be a bit of an oddity, but it was too similar to seperate itself like the Wii has.
In many ways it became the test bed for many of the things that have succeeded on the DS and the Wii
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
| RolStoppable said: The Gamecube was launched at a time when the PS2 was already the console to own due to its much larger library of games. It launched about 18 months earlier after all. The Gamecube didn't offer a different gaming experience than the PS2, so most people opted for the system with the most games. The main difference between the PS2 and GC was that the GC had Nintendo games. That and a few third party exclusives, but this was easily outweighed by the sheer number of games that the PS2 got. |
In a Nut shell. Great Post

Finally A Post That Makes Sense.
Everyone else's theory would also mean that the Wii should fail.

The thing is, they're not counting a variable in the equation, and it's the most important one: THE CONTROLS, Gamecube and Wii could aim to the same crowd, but guess what, the Wii is the one that has the innovative controls that enable games like guess what?: Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii+Wii Wheel, Wii Music, Wii Sports Resort, Mario & Sonic... The controls are what makes a person that is not a gamer be interested in this console...

Which one do you think the average person will get?...
