That actually gave me a good idea. I have a soundboard for Vince, and when I T-bag someone, play "You're going to love my nuts." Nice burn by the way =)
I mute everyone unless it's friends. Shit talking is played out. I fuckin' betrayed a teammate the other day on Halo and intentionally lost the game because he turned on his mic mid game and wouldn't shut the fuck up. He sent me a message that I deleted without ever even looking at, fuck em'. As far as the non verbal shit talking ( t-bag and dead body melee) is sometimes funny as hell but it also pisses me off too. Which come to think if funny, as long as I'm not already pissed off. So yeah the first thing I do is usually mute everyone whether they have a mic on or not unless I'm trying to take a piss real quick in between matches or jaggin' the dog or whatever and can't get back in time to mute.

Actually, the headset is not the problem. The speaker and mic are quite good, the issue is that when they went all wireless on the controllers (well except for the crappy wired ones you can buy), they had to make exceptions and one of those was voice quality. They couldn't allow the quality from the original Xbox headset to go through Xbox Live on the 360 because with the added wireless functionality to almost all controllers, there wasn't enough bandwidth in the wireless frequency to support as high of quality.
Definitly, shit talking is what keeps it fun for me, its hilarious to piss people off who take things seriously, then you get the occasional 8 year old calling u a Ner and cussing you out. I love XBL, wouldnt have it any other way.

hehe the couple of times I got free Xboxlive I loved that shit.
you get the best reactions when you start talking expensive LOL

Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

The J man did the exact same thing except the guy followed the J man to his next game so the J man just embarassed him.
