Forums - Gaming - i spent $6000 on gaming last year :(

Well after doing my taxes I was looking at what pegged at my wallet the most. The stealer was games...my god $6,000 ?!! X.X

I kept trying to calculate and remember what I bought.

A big contributer was my PC hardware which cost about $2,000 and still isn't finished. Psn pegged on about 300 bucks, special edition games ranging from 70 - 100 bucks, and even regular games costing $60 and my uncontrolable urge to buy a used ps2 game from gamestop every time I enter it. (just today i picked up indigo prophecy, last week the onimusha trilogy, and the week before eve of extinction)

I'm just amazed how much i spent on the stuff.....anyone else close to the same boat? or how much did you rouphly spend.

EDIT:

Well some of you have been asking for a list of how I came up with 6,000. When i first did it I was looking at my Debit card transactions with a fat list of gamestop, blockbuster, and amazon. those could only mean video games. Well to be sure I put together a list of all the games and gaming accesories I bought this year. some I looked up receipts others were pretty easy to remember, and some still had the price tag on them :PI know im missing some of my ps2 games i bough last year though.

At the end we add an 8% California sales tax.

Last year I spent over 2000 $ on gaming alone... and take into consideration that I havent bought a single game since the beginning of October... this year it will probably be far less, depending what console I will choose :|

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Yeah im trying to cut back, but....Killzone 2....Resident Evil 5....Mag, and build the rest of my computer.

That makes all of us casuals in comparison i guess

Under 500$ for me, aussie money

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I wouldn't say casuals i would just say I went to far and wasn't holding myself back...

that's too much , that's insane
I spent less than that on living lol

I spent under $400.

This year might be closer to $600. maybe.

I wish my family had money. :-/ I am the only one in my house that has a job! ugh!

The thing with me is I'm a college student living with my parents and outside of school and work it's all I do, so i pretty much blew all my money on games. Not the brightest of ideas, but i could technically do it without too much harm done.

You guys should do what we do on the forum I mod at. Have a thread with how much you have spent during the year. Update it every time you buy something. I get really up there

Honestly, that's getting into addiction territory. Even allowing for a $2000 PC purchase (and even that's not a great buy, since you can put together a really good PC for under $1000), that's still $4000 on gaming. That works out to something like 65+ games at $60 each! Seriously, how many hours a week are you spending on gaming?

Why not buy some games used? Or try Gamefly? There are tons of ways to acquire games without spending an arm and a leg.
