Forums - Sony - The reason you love Sony?

Because Sony gave me some of the best gaming experiences with their consoles...You can say it was because of 3rd party support but their 1st parties shouldnt be ignored. Every time sony came in they brought in something new.
They made gaming Mature and mainstream unlike Nintendo who at the time of N64 and Gamecube and still the Wii were more focused on the Kiddy aspect of gaming. Sony has done alot and shouldnt be questioned at all

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

And the Playstation brand hasn't earned there love? They came out with a console out of the blue when Nintendo was dominating the market and completely crushed everyone for almost 15 years because of obvious reasons,

GAMES!!!!

How can you ignore the marsterpieces that came out of Sony

lol the only reason that happened was because of third-party :P

how much do you know about the company you love?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Are you just going to totally deny the quality of games like GoW, SotC, Wipeout, and Gran Turismo? If so there's no reason to have such a one sided and pointless debate.

...

they have the best games, and make new IP's each gen.

Nintendo has great 1st party games, but haven't made a new IP (excluding Wii series) in a hell of a long time.

Microsoft has great multiplats but weak exclusives. Halo and Gears are great, mass effect is popular, splinter cell, forza. But still not a ton.

Now sony has awesome exclusives in God of War, Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone, Gran Turismo, Ratchet/Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid, FF vs 13, and more.

Because they promote vegetarianism! (Read my signature)

You're going to have to accept that there are people who have different opinions and tastes then you do.

It only takes one generation for gamers to fall in love with a console/brand. (The Xbox being a case in point.) With over 100 million sales for the PS1, that's a huge number of individuals that may have never owned a console prior to the PS1. The PS1 was also the birthplace of many of the greatest franchises in the industry.

Do you not think a franchise like GT for example, that's sold over 50 million units, would have earned the love of some gamers?

Roma said: All there games have either been bought or are third-party exclusives. They do not bring much new to the gamers only copy the things that have been successful in the market.

LittleBigPlanet at this very moment is bringing a new experience to an enourmous amount of console gamers.

Perhaps your question should be 'why do gamers still love Playstation?' The brand has existed for 15 years.

-The best consoles (in terms of games), and perfectly suited to my tastes
-Excellent first party studios, the best of the three console makers (ICO, SotC, God of War, Gran Turismo, etc.)
-The best controller (Dualshock is a fantastic design)

Oh, they also make great non-console hardware (I like my Sony Ericsson cellphone)

They are not perfect, I wish they madse more JRPGs instead of relying so much on third parties, but as a whole, there's not much to criticize Sony

"All there (sic) games have either been bought or are third-party exclusives."

God of War, Twisted Metal, Syphon Filter, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Patapon, Loco Roco, Gran Turismo and Uncharted say hi.

I don't really love Sony as a company but I appreciate their line of products.

I like their TV's and stereo's and have owned several car stereo's and a two regular stereo's made by them, their cameras and discman are also very good.
They also made the two consoles I've clocked the most hours by far, on and despite some hardware problems, my first PS2 (purchased in 2002) is still alive and well.
They also have some great game developers on their team.
Lastly, I also really like their cellphones, have had no problems with the three Sony Ericsson's I've owned in the past 7 years.

Like I said; the company itself could certainly stand to shape up but their products are fine. The same kinda relationship I have to Microsoft, really, I can appreciate a product without being in love with the people behind it.

Roma, why are you makign such a weird OP? Nintendo are fresh and new? Really? They don't have over 100 games featuring Mario, 14 Zelda's and otherwise many franchises still running that stem from the 80's?
Sony has done nothing new at all and just copy?
Spyro, Jak, Ratchet & Clank, Crash Bandicoot, Tekken, Tohshinden, Gran Turismo, 3D Final Fantasy and the first one with voiceacting, Need for Speed, Loaded, Twisted Metal, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Ridge Racer, Jumpin' Jack Flash, GTA both 2D and 3D, Driver just to name a few, were all games and concepts that were born on PS consoles and the original PS revolutionized the industry in its time, having features and games never before seen on a console or even PC (full CD-ROM support, Audio-CD's, built in audio and video codecs for better video and hardware that was on par with or almost better than standard PC's at the time).

I you think that all the above examples (I could make more, these were just the ones that immideatly sprung to mind) are plagiarized or blatantly copied, then surely everything Nintendo has made is taken from Atari and everything MS has made is from Sony and/or PC?
I know you're not a Sony or Playstation fan (like so many in here) but I had no idea that you were capable of being this incoherent and irrational. When you took a shot at tremble's post you're really making even worse; bad hardware? So everything Sony makes is unreliable? Phones, cameras, TV's stereo's, consoles, discs etc?
Ugly consoles? Certainly no more than others, I have never seen a pretty console, myself.
Socom might be bad so every Sony published or devloped title must be crap as well?
Number 4 is strange, I agree.
I too love the dualshock controller, between that and the N64 one, I was set for years!
Number six is true, PS and PS2 had a vast variety of games from all parties, whether they came from third, second or first party developers don't matter, they are still available on the platform (s), you're just being childish here imo.

Come on, get real, give credit where credit is due, saying Sony has nothing to offer to anyone and that they've done nothing for the entertainment industry (games, movies, music) is beyond anything I think I've heard in here.

Because Sony is the only company in this industry truly investing to make video games a valid artform.

Team ICO have an unlimited budget despite not making commercially successful games. Flower, Flow, MGS, LBP, and others, they make, sponsor and promote games with artistic sensibilities rather than just trying to cash in on the less sophisticated mainstream market.

They are willing to lose money on their consoles and their games (Team ico and others) to elevate the industry. Nintendo is doing the opposite by giving the perception of the industry being a toy, rather than a valid form of social, political or artistic expression/commentary.
