I just purchased Flower and I can say that it's an awesome experience. It's so relaxing and the graphics are so rewarding. Even my g/f sat down and played it on her own and she pretty much sucks at video games (even on the wii), but she enjoyed this...

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

It was my first PSN purchase and I've had a PS3 since November 2007. It's very soothing and beautiful, especially the soundtrack, even though I'm not too keen on the sixaxis control method (not just for flower, but games in general).

Edit: My second purchase will be either Fat Princess or Prince of Persia Epilogue DLC. I'm still undecided on the PoP DLC because it is a blatant ripoff on Ubisoft's part.

Go you!

Woo! It's fun, too.

I'll be picking this up whenever I get some money into my PSN wallet some how...

4 ≈ One

DLed it a half hour ago. Too tired to put any more time into it tonight. The game definitely didn't bat away my sleepiness. I could fall asleep to Flower playing in the background.  Very relaxing.

The controls took me a few minutes to get the hang of, but once you get familiar with them, it's quite fun. I like the way you select different levels in the apartment. Great way to keep the immersion flowing. For those of you that don't like poems... It's as poetic/deep as you want it to be. :D

Person 1: Does Valkyria Chronicles have trophies?
Person 2:  No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?

this game has to be played to be appreciated. It's beautiful, simple yet challenging, addictive and a breath of fresh air from all the kz2 chatter.

PS the game sprinkles magical pixy dust at you, everytime I play it, I smile and can't help but feel happy... On a bad note, it also makes me want to go on holiday :s

To those who played flow and were underwhelmed, I wanted put down my impressions.

While I liked the aesthetic of flow, I was ultimately disappointed in how it felt like a retro game with a lot of the pressure and focus stripped away.

Flower, on the other hand, feels like something fresh or innovative in its simplicity. It actually explains really clearly how you use the sixaxis controls with a few graphics and disguised tutorials in the beginning, and it feels better than a lot of wii games because they keep it so simple (you're basically just moving a camera that blows around with the wind, and speeding up with the press of any button).

Its main pluses are probably the controls that slip into the background and achieve the goal of being totally intuitive, some surprisingly engaging gameplay that never stops building in complexity, like a good piece of music that has continuous surprises no matter how much you think the current moment must be the pinnacle of the whole experience, and of course beautiful graphics which draw you and anyone else in the room into the game. The sound of the wind is really well done, and that combined with the look of the wind traveling through the grass calls you back to the game even after you've beaten it.

While this is cool, it's the sort of thing where if I tried to play it I would just think "Damn, I'd much rather be outside actually experiencing something like this", at which point I would shut off the PS3 and head outside for the rest of the day
