Its true metal absorb heat, That is if not generating heat itself like the CABLE BOX does.

Cable box (while plugged in) generates heat also transfers heat to anything it sits on..

The Cable Box is trying to get rid of heat so the Xbox 360, add does two and all they will do is exchange heat that only increase in temperatures to each other..

Which is why you'd be a complete moron to run the two together, or near the same times. Obviously it's not going to absorb heat if it's generating its own.

Besides, there's zero reason to run them both at the same time, so that's practically a nonissue anyways. However, it does become an issue if you run the 360 directly after watching TV... but that's a rare situation as well so it's also not a big concern.

The point is, yeah, it's not the best of ideas to have it set up that way. But it's obviously not as big a deal as everybody's making it out to be. It's incredible how misinformed so many of you are.

So you agree with most people's point that he shouldn't set it up that way, good to know.

And of course your theories only work if no devices are running at the same time as you said (for example you may have a DVD recorder running at the same time, or any number of other situations), and if they're made of metal which isn't always the case.

Seems like people aren't minsinformed, they're simply cautious and making less assumptions than you.

Well, I don't think it recovered completely: the black ingame colors are now anything but black, more like greenish blue and constantly changing which is really annoying. I'm just gonna wait for it to go 100% RRoD on me and then call MSFT.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

Yeah sounds like your graphics card is going whacky. I would get that thing to RROD ASAP and then get to your other systems while your waiting for the repair. I don't mind waiting for the repair as much considering mine took under two weeks, and actually made me turn on my PS2 and Wii again.

It's just that simple.

Once again, I thank everyone for helping me during this emotionally difficult time.

Man, the box was freaking hot, top and bottom, when I pulled it off the shelf.

glad you got it (semi) working again!

Just a quick word of warning, you might want to set the 360 on a small table next to your PS3 - but set it Horizontally instead of vertically. 360's are more prone to disk scratching issues when vertical AFIK (please someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Not to mention they get better airflow when horizontal.

hmmm just wanted to say put anything on top of another electronic device is plain stupid even even if the risks are minimum..... I don't have a single device on top of another one.... just my amplifier costs like 3 to 4 times the price of the 360 and produces probably 7 times the heat of the XB.... no way I put something on top of it even if it's high end electronic and would survive... it's not worth to take the risk.... the only 2 things I'll stack up would be a VCR player and the digital cable box.... but I haven't had a VDR in years... other than that if you have high end equipment you know ventilation is needed and therefor you don't stack it up..... people are just not used to have that kind of equipment....
