Forums - Gaming - Resident Evil 5, an aged experience?

I probably share the same feelings as many people on RE5.

To be honest, I dong care much if it plays as a fps or tps, a all out action game or survival horror, makes no difference to me aslong as it plays well and is fun. However, RE5 is trying to do both and he failed me in delivering the fusion. It could have been right but it went wrong.

I think capcom was confused on how to push the series forward and this is the outcome of the confusion. All they need to do is get rid of the girl, sort out the AI, sort out the movements, sort out the shooting mechanics and find a way to Instill the fear which is what most RE fans crave for.

People tend to compare RE5's pretty static gameplay to Dead Space or even to GoW2... seriously Resident Evil was like this all the time. Sure now it's much more action packed and it feels a bit awkward here and there but this slow pace didn't prevent it's preaquels to become great games overall.

All whining about lack of super duper Wii controls are a pile of crap as for me. I see no problem with dual stics controls - it doesn't affect gameplay. The problem is people expected different game mechanics in RE5. Period.

RE4 was a good game, but not really a RE game to me

RE5 should be fine : a sort of RE4.5 with little innovation outside co-op

but where is innovation in Halo3 ? Gears of war2 ? God of war 2 ? or GT ?

It is nowhere too ...

wii controls were definitly superior and did affect gameplay as it make it alot easier. i was hoping capcom return to the old static enviroments/fixed camera set up after RE4, but they instead chose to follow the way that gave them the less succes. the past REs with the classic gameplay sold way more than RE4 which was released on 4 times and none of this times it outsould any of the past installments(well maybe zero).

They don't need innovation. They're timeless.

If RE5 had been RE4 with a few tweaks, fine.

What's not fine is if one of those "tweaks" involves putting the entire game outdoors in broad daylight and making the enemies so stupid that it's not even remotely scary.

See, in doing that, it killed the whole "survival horror" thing and makes it a very strange, badly-controlling third person shooter. Being a TPS, it is now compared to Gears and loses.

Go try and run and shoot a gun at the same time in real life. It doesn't work too well.

I loved the demo,,,what's everyone's problem?the control setting is not same for all games.get use to it.The controls are fine.the only small issue is not moving while shooting.

WHAT?? If they let you move and shoot at the sametime they might as well change the name of the franchise. Have you played any of the previous Resident Evil games? The point is not that they made a bad game, the game is pretty good. The point is that they're changing the distinctness of the franchise to be more like all the other games, if they let you run and gun then there would be nothing special about Resident Evil anymore. It's already lost it's luster with me. There's not much of a reason for me to get this game over any other good shooter game now. The experience is going away. I'll need to get my fix of slow paced survival horror games elsewhere now. Too bad all the other ones suck.
