Forums - Gaming - LBP Vs. Blocks

LBP from what I've seen of it kind of reminds me of Lemmings in that you have characters using specific skills in order to get to the end of a level. Blocks on the other hand reminds me of the puzzle levels in Bejeweled 2 in which you have to figure out how to move the blocks so that everything falls into place correctly in order to achieve your objective. They are similar in concept but vastly different in execution, in one you add to get to your objective and in the other you remove.

Anyways that's my take on them, I'm not sure how they'll do, I imagine Steven Spielberg's name will be all over Blocks and LBP is getting a lot of hype so it'll definitely be interesting to see how they do.

Around the Network

Even though people are bitching way too much in this thread, it's probably a good sign LBP will be a reasonably successful game. It obviously appeals to both hardcore level builders and casual pickup-and-play gamers.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
