Depends on program. What comes for floating point operations, yes its more powerful in that stuff.

Thats why I added "Neither you can optimize those programs for them to make them work.". Lets take two(or more like three) simple examples:

1. If you need to make program that must process 400MB data, would X360 or PS3 be faster?

(Yeah, that was pretty low, but I can give you better example.

1. b) If you need to make program that must process 200MB data and every 1MB of data needs always 10MB of data because of depencies. Process cannot be split into smaller problems, would X360 or PS3 be faster?)

2. If you need to make program that must process 200MB data and make floating point operations for every 256kB, would X360 or PS3 be faster?

(Bonus:

If you need to make program(very complex AI) that must follow paths that has 200^200 different possibilities(outcomes) and that heavily depend on previous paths, would X360, PS3 or Xbox be faster?)

A system that easier to developer for makes games less costly and time consuming which means you can produce more and make more money. A company's goal is to make money. If it's easier to make the game on another console, then make it for the easier console. Everyone's judgment (including the man who wrote on the blog) is being clouded by fanboyism.

Data processing can normally always be split up in smaller parts and executable code is tiny, results are passed around quickly within the PS3 architecture. For any type of game processing function the code can be styled in a way the Cell is able to well outperform the Xenon. That's one aspect of optimisation.

On the Cell you have local storages of 256KB and DMA per SPE, with the Xenon you have shared L2 cache and a tiny amount of L1 cache to work with per core.

You really need to write down a more concrete example for me to follow you, maybe I can provide you with a smart work around to your problems.
