Forums - General - Have you ever had a lucid dream?

No I don't have lucid dreams, but I have something a little weirder lol. Sometimes, I tell people what will happen in the next minutes/hours ... and it really happens! That's kinda scary. For example, when I was younger I went to the hospital with the school (you know the medical stuff you gotta do at the beginning of the year). Before taking the bus to go back to school, I told one of my friend that the bus will crash. And guess what, the bus crashed ... And she died! Crazy isn't it???

I remember I had a dream where I went to church and did some random crap... then it happened a few weeks later and I was like "Woah! De ja vu!" It was weird...

For the most part, I don't remember my dreams and the ones I do are either not interesting or something I'm not going to share with anyone. =)

Today I didn't have a Lucid dream, but I'm pretty sure my dream involved vgchartz. Apparently I was talking in my sleep, or when my wife was trying to wake me, and when I woke she asked me what ssj12 was. Now I'm scared.

Anyone try READING during a lucid dream? I saw an episode of Batman: The Animated Series and Batman says that you cannot read during a lucid dream because the brain that understands reading and stuff is shut off while you are asleep. This is different than say, recognizing STOP on a stop sign, or seeing Fruit Loops on a box of cereal; I'm talking about reading a book or the time on a digital clock or something.

I did some more research and I read that you do not have a very long term memory while you are dreaming. So the next time you lucid dream, try picking up and reading a book and see if you can the pages. Chances are you will not be able to read the text. And if you can, look away, count to 5, then look back and try to read the text again. Chances are that the text will be different the second/third time around.

And it makes sense if you think about it. If you pick up a copy of War and Peace or something, its really hard to recreate a full page of text, let along several pages of text in your short term memory. Therefore, you brain has to make due with what's available at the time.

Yes I have and they all ended up XXX rated.

a lucid dream is basically a dream where you know your dreaming

Its awesome you can do anything

Actually there's two types of lucid dreams (or mix of both).

On wikipedia it's defined as:

"A lucid dream is a dream in which the person is aware that they are dreaming while the dream is in progress, also known as a conscious dream. When the dreamer is lucid, they can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can be extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream"

Personally I've had a few conscious dreams but only a couple of what I prefer to call lucid or "clear dreams" as they 're called in my language.

Clear dreams are much more impressive, because everything is crystal clear - the dream world seems more real than real life.

On the other hand my conscious dreams are not very special - everything is blurred and unclear like in a normal dream, it's just that I have some control of what I do, and since I'm aware of it's only a dream I'm able to do stupid stuff willingly, like jumping off a cliff or act like an idiot in front of people.

Yeah, I've had a couple, though they've never been very clear in the end. Well, it was clear once (when it was the longest) but it was undetailed and boring and eventually I lost control. The others have been rather short and, for whatever reason, especially trying sex makes them end very fast. Oh, and it's been some time since I last had a lucid dream.

ive had a weird dream, has anybody had a dream where your awake but you cant move or open your eyrs? like all the muscles in your body are locked, but you can hear things around you, very creepy,

That's not a dream!

It's a state between being awake and dreaming.  It's called "sleep paralysis."  One part of your brain paralyzes your body so that you don't act out your dreams, which can be very dangerous (sleepwalking, punching a wall or mirror, falling out of bed, etc.).  The other part of your brain, that's supposed to fall asleep, didn't do it right.  So you can see and hear real things happening in real time, but you can't move.  Sometimes you'll be kind of semi-dreaming, in which you see and hear your room as it really is, but you also dream some stuff up on top of it, like you see your room from your bed, but you also see weird colors or lights or shapes or a dragon coming through your wall to eat you.

Since you can't move your body, try to levitate.  Since you're actually in a dreamstate, you should be able to invent some magic stuff like that.  That's how I can turn a creepy state of sleep paralysis into an awesome adventure of lucid dreaming.

Awesome I had sleep paralysis once but I did not know it was called like that.
